There is no more independence in politics than there is in jail. – Will Rogers
Welcome to the big show to end the week “Caught My Eye” (CME)!
If you are a first-time visitor, CME is posted right here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little – maybe both.
Topics that I am providing commentary on today include Trump Tweets, Daines Recommends Alme, Sheriff Edwards Update, U.S. Marshal for Montana, and much more!
I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came..
…to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!
It’s fine to get on Twitter and tell the world that a reporter got it wrong, although as President, Trump has a stable of people in his communications department who are paid to do that for him.
What is wrong and very un-presidential is for him to use personal attacks to criticize reporters about their appearance. Saying someone has a low IQ and they are crazy is something we expect to hear from a playground bully and not from the leader of the free world.
One thing we have found in 161 days of this presidency, is that nobody in his inner circle can control the President – not his wife, not his daughters, not his sons, not the Vice President. They need to do an intervention.
Trump is an embarrassment to the Presidency and to the United States.
Daines Recommends Alme:
U.S. Senator Steve Daines recently announced that he was recommending attorney Kurt Alme of Billings to President Donald Trump for the position of U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana.
The recommendation brought back memories. It was not too long ago that then U.S. Senator Max Baucus, as Roll Call reported, “was carrying on an affair with his state office director, Melodee Hanes, when he nominated her to be U.S. attorney in Montana.”
Recommendations like U.S. Attorney are the perks the party who wins the White House gets for their win. They get to put like-minded people, often party insiders, in these key positions.
As Baucus experienced, there are still a few standards left in the process.
Sheriff Edwards Update:
The Great Falls Tribune reported that Helena police said this week that alcohol may have been a factor in a June 15 incident that resulted in a misdemeanor assault charge against Cascade County Sheriff Bob Edwards.
This was great police work. It might not have been a factor, too, I guess.
Applause to the Tribune for trying to get some answers from the Helena authorities, such as:
In a written statement to the Tribune, which sent a letter asking what sparked the alleged incident, whether or not a breathalyzer was administered to Edwards on June 15, if there was damage reported by the hotel, and if Edwards reportedly putting a pistol in his mouth called for a psychiatric evaluation, the Helena City Attorney’s Office said that information was considered confidential criminal justice information.
I don’t think it’s confidential criminal justice information. If it was someone else, would they still be withholding it?
One More Thing:
I am expecting in the near future to hear that U.S. Senator Steve Daines will recommend President Trump nominate Sheriff Woody Pride (from the Toy Story movie fame) to be the U.S. Marshal for the District of Montana.
You heard it here first, folks!
Have a safe and happy Independence Day!!
