Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. – Confucius

Welcome to Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • The Nurse
  • The Police Officer
  • Northwest Missouri State University
  • Women’s Final Four
  • Men’s Final Four

The Nurse:

From NBC’s Today Show…

Less than a decade after Rachel Barclay battled leukemia, she returned to the same hospital and began working as a nurse, bringing smiles to young patients and hope to their parents.

The Police Officer:

From “On the Road” with Steve Hartman…

Making it through seven months of police training is a big achievement for anyone. But for one recruit at the Suffolk County police academy on Long Island, New York, the accomplishment borders on the miraculous.

Matias Ferreira, age 28, used to be a Marine and served in Afghanistan. In 2011, he stepped on an improvised explosive device and lost both legs from the knee down. He recently graduated from Suffolk County police academy.

Northwest Missouri State University:

Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, made history this past week when their men’s basketball team won the NCAA Division II basketball championship.

Earlier this year, the football team won the Division II football championship. They are the first Division II School to accomplish the feat of winning both championships in the same year.

Women’s Final Four:

Mississippi State, South Carolina, Stanford, and UConn are the final four teams for the Women’s NCAA Basketball championship.

It’s South Carolina against Stanford and Mississippi State against UConn in the semifinals, which are being played Friday. The championship game is on Sunday.

UConn looks unstoppable again this year.

Men’s Final Four:

  1. It’s a Territorial face-off. The Oregon Territory vs the Carolina Territory. Hoping for an Oregon Territory showdown.
