Today I take a look at Super Bowl 51, Saturday Night Live, Super Bowl Ads, and much more!

Super Bowl 51:

It was the first Super Bowl to go to overtime. It may be the best Super Bowl ever. It was a historic comeback by the Patriots who were once down 28-3 and came back to tie it in regulation. They won the coin toss in overtime and marched down the field to score a touchdown. The Patriots beat the Falcons 34-28. Tom Brady was the MVP.

It seemed as soon as the Patriots won the coin toss to start overtime, it was over for the Falcons.

The Falcons came out and played well early and there were just a couple of plays that if they could have converted, they probably would have won. In the fourth quarter with under five minutes remaining they got all the way down to the Patriots 22 yard line, but a sack and a holding penalty took them out of field goal range and kept them from going up by two scores.

Now Tom Brady has five rings – more than any other quarterback. Is he the greatest quarterback of all time? I think he’s right up there with the likes of Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw, who were both 4-0 in the Super Bowl. Brady is 5-2.

I would have loved to hear the short conversation between NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Tom Brady after the game. There are a lot of haters of the New England Patriots. When you’re as great as they are, that comes with the territory.

Now we enter that dark, cold, sad, and lonely time called the off-season.

Sean Spicer Press Conference:

It was one of the most hilarious skits in Saturday Night Live history. White House press secretary Sean Spicer (Melissa McCarthy) and secretary of education nominee Betsy DeVos (Kate McKinnon) take questions from the press.

Born the Hard Way:

When I first watched the Budweiser Super Bowl ad called “Born the Hard Way” which was about Adolphus Busch immigrating to America, people in the commercial were saying to him, “You don’t look like you’re from around here” and “Go home.” After hearing those comments, I thought that maybe he had arrived in Montana and people had found out he was not a native Montanan…

Although it was probably not a great ad by Super Bowl standards, it tells a wonderful story.

  1. Super Bowl 51: IMHO, after yesterdays performance, Brady is now the best QB to ever play the game and Belichick became the best coach in the games history. All the numbers show that…and I would add that Lady Gaga increased her fan base logrhythmically in just 13 minutes. She showed patriotism, love of family and was pure entertainment!

    • Barry – I thought her performance was fine. I never get too upset about the halftime show. I would like to see REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, and Styx do a Super Bowl halftime. That would be cool for us old rockers… -JmB

      • My son and I go to concerts together, taking turns on who we go see. We have seen REO, Styx, Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffett, Def Leppard, Lynard Skynrd, Marshall Tucker just to name a few. The best venues for old time rockers these days is the casino circuit, they are smaller and less expensive!

      • Barry – All good acts to see. I don’t know if I’ve seen REO in a casino, but I have seen them at Arrowhead and Royals Stadium in Kansas City and at the University of Missouri, to places in Montana like Great Falls, Three Forks, and Billings. We’ve seen them in Kellogg Idaho on top of Silver Mountain where my son and I had to ride a gondola to the top of the mountain to see them perform. Good times! Thanks, -JmB
