Terrific News Tuesday

If you fell down yesterday, stand up today. – H. G. Wells

Welcome to Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • The Coin Toss
  • The Audit
  • Missoulian Sports
  • Major League Baseball
  • Girl Scout Cookies

The Coin Toss:

President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara were on hand for the Super Bowl and President Bush tossed the coin to start the game.

President George H.W. Bush is a national hero.

The Audit:

It was nice to read that an independent auditor has declared the state of Montana’s financial statements error-free. (AP)

The AP also reported the audit covered one year and Montana had a remaining balance of about $271 million.

Missoulian Sports:

Congratulations to the Missoulian and their sports department for being recognized by FoxSports.com for having one of the best newspaper headlines commemorating the Patriots’ overtime Super Bowl victory over Atlanta. (Missoulian)

Covering all the sports in Montana and the nation is a demanding job and it’s good to see the Missoulian get some national recognition.

Major League Baseball:

The good news is that the first spring training workouts start February 14, and opening day(s) are April 2 and April 3. (MLB)

Spring is in the air…somewhere…

Girl Scout Cookies:

The good news is that local TV station KRTV recently reported that Girl Scout cookies went on sale Friday, February 3. This year marks the 100th year of the cookies being sold and this year there’s a new cookie – the S’mores cookie.

KRTV also reported that Girl Scouts in our area (Montana) will be taking orders from now until February 19th.

More information about the cookies can be found HERE.
