Terrific News Tuesday

All of us, at certain moments of our lives, need to take advice and to receive help from other people. – Alexis Carrel

Welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • #GivingTuesday
  • Lolita Zinke
  • Miracle Baby
  • Powerball Jackpot

Today is #GivingTuesday! According to their website:

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Lolita Zinke:

Rep. Ryan Zinke’s team announced Monday that his wife, Lolita Zinke, will join President-elect Donald Trump’s Veterans Administration landing team. Members of the landing team will evaluate the Veterans Administration and identify changes to be made in the first 100 days. (Helena IR)

Congrats to Lolita Zinke! As a veteran, I look forward to seeing what the team discovers. If Lolita needs some ideas, I invite her to search for “veterans” on this website.

Miracle Baby:

This survival story seems to defy logic: An 8-month-old infant was thrown from a car after a terrible crash – and survived it. Capt. Charlie Smith and firefighter Josh Moore found her in a storm drain on Friday night. (CBS News)

Powerball Jackpot:

A lottery ticket sold in Tennessee had the winning numbers for a $421 million Powerball jackpot, one of the biggest on record, officials said after Saturday’s draw. The winning numbers selected were 17, 19, 21, 37, 44, with the Powerball 16. (Reuters)

Just a reminder, The Western Word takes donations!

  1. Oh sure, bring up that 1970 SB win that was against my Vikings. At least you’ve won one. Signed, an ever-hopeful, long suffering Vikings fan.

  2. I have expected a celebration of Chief’s victory over Broncos. Thank you for sparing a fifty year Broncos fan. They almost always find a way to break my heart. But it was a bad call on last KC touchdown.

    • Anon: That was quite the game. I did not expect the Chiefs to win it. I was in a hotel in Spokane and I think I woke everybody up when the FG hit the pole and bounced in!
As for the call, I did not expect it to be a TD and it seems nobody knows what a catch is these days. As for breaking your heart, the Broncos have been Super Bowl champs (I believe) three times since the Chiefs won it in 1970. I quit expecting much except heartbreak from them!
For a Christmas gift, we get Denver at Kansas City – how cool is that!
