The Sunday Message

From CBS News “On the Road” segment:

When John Metzler served in the Vietnam War, he got a Christmas card from a little girl he didn’t know. He said it helped him get through the war. Decades later, he met the sender. Steve Hartman has their story “On The Road.”

The Sunday Message

If I couldn’t handle not being good at something, then how could I consider myself a successful person? – Gerald Hodges

Four years ago, Gerald Hodges made his high school swim team — perhaps the only kid to ever make a high school swim team without a clue how to swim.

Hodges is pretty good in other sports, but not swimming.

“On the Road” with Steve Hartman has the rest of Gerald’s story by clicking HERE.

Have a great week!

The Great Tax Gift

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
Cos I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
Cos I’m the taxman, yeah I’m the taxman

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet
-Taxman (The Beatles)

The big news this week the tax bill will be voted on and most folks believe it will pass with little or no support from the Democrats.

President Donald Trump said, “This is going to be one of the great gifts to the middle-income people of this country that they’ve ever gotten for Christmas.”

Oh, holy night!

The Sunday Message

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. – Hebrews 13:16 (NIV)

I happened to catch this story on CBS News and wanted to share it.

Wanda Dench wanted to give her grandchildren advance notice of Thanksgiving plans this year. And she knew the best way to communicate with “kids” these days: by text. So, instead of dialing up her grandson, the Phoenix-area woman typed a quick message.

Her message was sent to the wrong number. It was received by Jamal Hinton, a 17-year-old high school senior. After some back and forth, Hinton figured out it was not his grandma sending the text, but he asked, “Can I still get a plate tho?”

Dench didn’t skip a beat. Within seconds, she replied, “Of course you can. That’s what grandma’s do…feed everyone.”

So Jamal will be going to grandma Dench’s house for a Thanksgiving meal. I also heard that Dench invited the rest of his family, too.

Hinton posted the messages between the two on Twitter and it has been shared about 190,000 times.

Happy Thanksgiving!
