Terrific News Tuesday

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. – Mother Teresa

Welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Cameron Center
  • America Recycles Day
  • One Big Sky Center
  • On The Road
  • Elton John
  • Kansas City Chiefs

Cameron Center:

The good news is the Great Falls Rescue Mission is opening the Cameron Center today which will be used to house homeless families. (GF Tribune)

The Great Falls Rescue Mission does a wonderful job of helping the homeless in Great Falls.

America Recycles Day:

Today (Nov. 15) is America Recycles Day and according to their website America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful national initiative, is the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Each year, on and in the weeks leading into Nov. 15, thousands of communities across the country participate by promoting environmental citizenship and taking action to increase and improve recycling in America. (Keep America Beautiful)

I hope that in the future cities across the country provide more recycling opportunities for citizens.

One Big Sky Center:

That’s the name of a new proposed development in Billings (MT), which when completed will include the tallest building in Montana. (Billings Gazette)

I like tall buildings…

On The Road:

In this week’s On the Road segment, CBS’ Steve Hartman told the story about Brandon and Kathy Gunn of Northville, Michigan, who have been married for nine years — and yet they just recently opened their last wedding present.

The gift came from Kathy’s great aunt Alison and it came with a card that read, “Do not open until first disagreement.” They say they needed it many times, but never opened it.

Read/watch the rest of the story HERE.

Sir Elton John:

Sir Elton John will play in Bozeman March 7 and in Missoula March 8. (MTN)

Go see him! I’ve seen him in concert twice and he was great!

Kansas City Chiefs:

The good news for the Chiefs fans is that the Chiefs have won five games in a row and are in first place in the AFC West. They are tied with New England for the best record in the AFC.(ESPN)

It looks like it will be a fun second half of the season for football fans!

  1. Speaking of NE, the ‘hawks got their revenge. I was so happy. Great goal line stand.
Even the Boston Globe said the pass to Gronk was a good non-call. “Both sides do it!”

    • Doug – That was a great game, as was Dallas/Pittsburgh. Chiefs came back from 17 down to beat Carolina. Giants/Bengals played a good one. Finally we had some exciting games! I agree on the non-call. If Gronk would have just turned his back when he made contact, it might have been called. Pats are vulnerable! Thanks, -JmB

  2. Kansas City Chiefs: I am sure it was just an oversight that you forgot to include my beloved Raiders, who KC is tied with for first place in the AFC West and shares the best record in the AFC with the Pats and the Chiefs!

    • Barry: I love you, man. The Chiefs beat your Raiders in Oakland on Oct 16 by a score of 26-10. Although they have the same record, the Chiefs would win the AFC West if the playoffs start today due to that victory. They do have the same record (7-2) as the Chiefs/Pats. Congrats on a good season so far. -JmB

      • They have a chance to even the score on the 8th, hopefully by 17 points! This year reminds me of the good old days where the AFC West was the toughest one in the NFL! Very competitive and old school!

      • Barry – the AFC West could have three playoff teams which would be cool. As for the Raiders beating the Chiefs, they have rained on the Chiefs parade before, so nothing will surprise me. -Thanks, JmB
