Terrific News Tuesday

Freedom means the opportunity to be what we never thought we would be. – Daniel J. Boorstin

Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • First Responders
  • Great Falls Voyagers
  • Durant & Warriors
  • Joey Chestnut & Hot Dogs
  • Mega Millions Jackpot

First Responders:

Thanks to the first responders for being there for us over the Independence Day holiday! I heard several sirens throughout the night, but it appears that it was a pretty calm Fourth of July.

Voyagers Alcohol Free Night:

Applause to the Great Falls Voyagers baseball club for holding the first ever “Alcohol Free Night” tonight at Centene Stadium. The Voyagers are a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Chicago White Sox.

The Voyagers host the Missoula Osprey tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Durant to Warriors:

Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder player Kevin Durant announced that he is signing with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have been to the NBA Finals the past two years, winning it in 2015.(ESPN)

Durant played with OKC for nine years.

Durant called Thunder general manager Sam Presti before he announced his decision to the public. Other professional players could learn a lot from the way Durant handled his free agency.

Joey Chestnut & Hot Dogs:

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is once again the Hot Dog eating champion! Chestnut, 32, downed 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes — the most hot dogs and buns ever eaten at the competition — polishing off 17 more dogs than his nearest competitor, Matt “The Megatoad” Stonie. (USA Today)

I polished off two beer baron sausages on the Fourth of July!

Mega Millions Jackpot:

The jackpot for tonight’s Mega Millions lottery is $449 million!

Is this a great country or what?
