Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died. – Erma Bombeck
Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!
In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Ice Breaker Road Race
- Malmstrom DUI Program
- 1600 Meter Run
- Primary Day
- 2016 NFL Draft
Ice Breaker Road Race:
Another wonderful thing about Great Falls, Montana, is the annual Ice Breaker Road race.
The 37th annual race was held this past Sunday with the Great Falls Tribune reporting that 3,003 people took part in one of the three races (5 mile, 3 mile, 1 mile).
Malmstrom DUI Program:
Personnel at Malmstrom AFB spent some time recently learning what the consequence of driving under the influence could be through a “live or die” production. Volunteers conducted a demonstration of a fatal car crash caused by a drunk driver. The production took airmen through the process from going into the hospital, to notifying the parents of the victim, and even viewing the funeral. (MTN)
This sounds like a wonderful program – hopefully one that will help prevent drunk driving.
1600 Meter Run:
Christina Aragon of Billings Senior and Annie Hill of Kalispell Glacier put on a great show Saturday during the 800 and 1600-meter runs at the Great Falls Optimist Invitational.
Aragon beat Hill at the Great Falls Optimist Invitational, with Aragon’s 1600-meter time of 4:43.58 ranking second in the nation according to MileSplit while Hill’s 4:44.67 was good enough for fourth in the national high school ranks. (MTN Sports)
It’s great news for political junkies! It’s primary voting day in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island today! (AP)
On the Republican side, it looks as though Donald Trump should win every state. There are 172 delegates in the Republican side.
On the Democrat side, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are close in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Clinton should win Pennsylvania. It should be an exciting night for the Democrats tonight. There are 462 delegates up for grabs.
2016 NFL Draft:
We’re getting closer to football season! The 2016 NFL Draft starts Thursday night and ends Saturday. Right now the Los Angeles Rams have the first pick and there will be 253 total selections during the seven rounds. The Eagles, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars round out the top five picks in the first round. (NFL.com)
My Kansas City Chiefs have the 28th pick in the first round.
