Terrific News Tuesday

Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest. – Mark Twain

Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!

In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Books, Books & More Books
  • NCAA’s Men’s Basketball Champions
  • Four-Peat?
  • World Series Rematch
  • Hello Wisconsin!
  • Girl Scout Cookies

Books, Books & More Books:

Heidi VanSumeren always loved books, so when her house burned and destroyed all of her books, children’s book illustrator and author Bob Shea heard about it. Shea sent a Tweet to his followers and Heidi started receiving books – and more books and even furniture from all over the world.

That’s pretty cool.

NCAA Men’s Basketball Champions:

With the two “Final Four” games being decided by 17 and 44 points, respectively, it was great to see a close game between Villanova and North Carolina for the championship.

Villanova won the National Championship 77-74 with a last-second three-point shot. That was a few seconds after North Carolina had tied the game at 74. (AP)

Four-Peat?

We’ve had the honor of seeing an actual dynasty the past few years with the University of Connecticut Huskies winning three straight Division I women’s basketball championships.

They go for a “four-peat” tonight against Syracuse.

World Series Rematch:

Major League Baseball did not plan to have the two World Series teams meet in the season opener, but that’s the way it ended up. The New York Mets played in Kansas City against the World Series champion Kansas City Royals Sunday night. The Mets had to watch the Royals raise their World Series banner and see highlights of their victory over the Mets.

The Royals won the season opener 4-3.

They play again this afternoon – that’s when the Royals are presented with their World Series Rings.

Hello Wisconsin!

The good news is there’s a Presidential Primary today! Voters in Wisconsin head to the polls today in their Presidential Primary. There are 42 delegates on the GOP side and 96 on the Democrat side.

Who will be the “big cheese” in Wisconsin tonight? I think it will be a Ted Cruz victory on the GOP side, and a Bernie Sanders win on the Democrats side.

Girl Scout Cookies:

It’s time for Girl Scout cookies! I had a few Girl Scout cookies last night. I like the Thin Mints, but I would eat any of them!

It’s amazing how selling Girl Scout cookies has evolved over the years.

You can go to “cookie finder” WEBSITE and type in your zip code to find a cookie booth near you. They also have a Facebook page dedicated to Girl Scout cookies.
