Hey kids – welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT)!
In case this is your first time reading TNT, this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything in this column today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Montana Candidates
- Unemployment rate
- Western Art Week
- Sports Scores
- Horse Rescue
- Primary Election Day
It’s always nice to see people willing to serve in elected office, and the good news is that Montana has plenty of people who are willing to run for office!
According to the Montana Secretary of State’s office and reported by the Associated Press, 382 people filed papers to be on ballots in the June primary. Of those, 324 were for 100 House and 25 Senate seats in the state legislature.
Thanks to all the people who are running for elected office.
Unemployment rate in Montana:
It’s great news that Montana has a low unemployment rate – and it’s been low for quite some time.
The Montana Department of Labor reported that Montana’s unemployment rate was unchanged in January, remaining at 4.1%. Montana’s unemployment rate continues to hover around 4.0% as it did for most of 2015. The U.S. unemployment rate fell 0.1% over the month to 4.9%.
Western Art Week:
It’s a favorite time of year for a lot of people – the annual Western Art Week in Great Falls! You can review the schedule of events HERE.
This is another one of the great things about Great Falls, Montana.
A big thanks goes to all the reporters and people on Twitter who report the Montana sports scores with the hashtag #MTScores. The good news is that sports fans can quickly find a score!
I also salute the local sports reporters who travel around the state to report on the games. It’s a tough job and their work is much appreciated by this sports fan.
The good news is, thanks to several people, a horse that got stuck in the mud in the Sun River near Great Falls was rescued and is doing well. The Great Falls Tribune has the story and video HERE.
Thanks to these people for their amazing work!
Primary Election Day:
The good news is that the road to the White House continues today with people in five states — Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio voting today. Plus we have the Northern Mariana Islands Republican Caucus today! (NY Times)
Don’t forget to vote!
