Terrific News Tuesday

There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still. – Franklin D. Roosevelt

Hey kids…it’s time for another edition of Terrific News Tuesday!

In case this is your first time reading Terrific News Tuesday (TNT), this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Cattlemen’s Cut
  • Montana Millionaire
  • Kidney Transplants
  • Most Admired for 2015
  • Popular Urban Legends for 2015

Cattlemen’s Cut:

KRTV in Great Falls reported that for the second year in a row, Cattlemen’s Cut restaurant west of Great Falls served a Christmas day dinner to more than 200 airmen and their families from Malmstrom Air Force Base. The dinner was free.

That is a wonderful way to treat our military personnel and their families – many who are away from their families during Christmas. Applause to the Cattlemen’s Cut restaurant!

Montana Millionaire:

All 135,000 tickets were sold for the Montana Millionaire drawing, which takes place this morning (Dec. 29).

The good news is someone will be a millionaire today, plus two others will win $100,000 each, and three others will win $10,000 each.

Good luck – and don’t forget to share your winnings with me!

Kidney Transplants:

The Associated Press (AP) reported that a shake-up of the nation’s kidney transplant system means more organs are getting to patients once thought nearly impossible to match, according to early tracking of the new rules.

This is fantastic news for people needing a kidney transplant.

Most Admired for 2015:

The good news is that it’s the end of the year and we get to see all the end of year lists which I think is pretty cool. Gallup recently posted their most-admired list. See it HERE.

Although there’s a lot of anger and hatred in the country toward both people, Gallup reported that Hillary Clinton is the most admired woman, and Barack Obama is the most admired man for 2015. It was the 20th time that Hillary Clinton has been named the most admired and the 8th time that Obama has been named the most admired.

It wasn’t that close a contest for either person as they won by wide margins. By the way, Pope Francis and Donald Trump tied for second in the poll.

Most Popular Urban Legends for 2015:

The good news is that we have Snopes.com so we have a place to go check to see if some of the information being posted on the internet is true or false or a combination of both. They call this information “urban legends.”

Snopes.com has put together the 25 urban legends that circulated the most widely on the Internet in 2015. Things like the Facebook Privacy Notice, the Mark Zuckerberg Giveaway Hoax, and the War on Christmas Cups all made the list.

You can check out the list HERE.
