Terrific News Tuesday

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. – Joseph Campbell

Welcome to another edition of Terrific News Tuesday!

In case this is your first time reading Terrific News Tuesday (TNT), this column is all about good news – there’s no complaining or criticizing today – just some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • Billings Jewish Community
  • Jacob Bachmeier
  • Tribune’s Sunday Conversation
  • Brawl of the Wild

Billings Jewish Community:

Applause to the members of the Billings Jewish Community for helping passengers of an El Al flight who were headed to Los Angeles from Tel Aviv. The flight had to make an emergency landing in Montana, leaving 300 passengers stranded.

The Billings Gazette reported that members of the Billings Jewish community delivered kosher snacks, as well as staples such as deodorant and diapers. A rabbi from Bozeman traveled to the Billings airport.

Jacob Bachmeier:

Jacob is 17-year-old Havre High School senior who is planning on running for the Montana Legislature. (Source)

It’s always great to hear about young people getting involved in their community and in government. We need young people serving in the legislature and in other offices.

Tribune’s Sunday Conversation:

Cheers to Scott Mansch, Sports Columnist for the Great Falls Tribune, for his “Sunday Conversation” column. Mansch interviews current or former Montana athletes. It’s always a great read.

Last Sunday he interviewed Marc Mariani, former Montana Griz and now a member of the Chicago Bears. Read it HERE.

Brawl of the Wild:

I enjoy watching the excitement build as Montanans get ready for the annual Brawl of the Wild football game.

The University of Montana Grizzlies (6-4) travel to Bozeman this Saturday to take on the Montana State University Bobcats (5-5) in the annual “Brawl of the Wild” football game.

The winner gets the Great Divide Trophy and bragging rights. The Bobcats are out of the playoff picture, but they have a chance to finish above .500 and derail the Grizzlies’ playoff hopes. Both teams played one of their best games this past week, so I am looking for a good game.

The showdown starts at high noon Saturday. Root Sports is televising the game.

  1. Sad news for the Griz. Scholar/athlete Derek Crittenden will miss the Brawl because he has to attend his interview for a possible Rhodes scholarship this Fri/Sat.

    Sucks to be him. /snark

    Good Luck Derek. Go Griz!
