Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom. – George S. Patton
Welcome to “Thursday Numbers!” In case you’re new around here, “Thursday Numbers” is the weekly column where I take a look at the numbers that are in the news (in descending order) and provide commentary sometimes sprinkled with sarcasm.
This week’s topics include Tom Brady, Glacier National Park, Glendive MT, Most Beautiful, Medicare/Medicaid, Eric Berry, unemployment, August recess, Miracle Treat Day, and much more!
That’s how many people filed new claims for unemployment last week. (Source)
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady reportedly sent nearly 10,000 text messages in a four month period. That’s about 83 per day (Source).
Brady can do it all – he’s been in six Super Bowls and won four, he’s married to a supermodel, and he has three children.
That’s about how many acres the Reynolds Creek Fire in Glacier National Park has burned. It was likely human caused. (Source)
Glacier Park is open! Check HERE for updates.
That’s how high the winds were blowing in Glendive, Montana, this week when a thunderstorm passed through the area. The Associated Press reported that wind speeds were measured at 90 mph before the measurement instrument was blown off the roof of the airport and an airplane hangar was destroyed.
Prepare yourself – here are The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful for 2015.
I did not see anyone on the most “beautiful” list from the Montana delegation…
Medicare and Medicaid turns 50 today – President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law on July 30, 1965. (Source)
This was one of the better things Congress accomplished.
Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Eric Berry has been cleared medically to practice about eight months after being diagnosed with lymphoma. (Source)
This is great news. Berry is just 26.
This is your annual warning – members of the U.S. House and Senate will soon be roaming around their districts and states! The U.S. House is in recess (vacation) until September 8 and the U.S. Senate is expected to finish up their work this week and head home – or take a junket somewhere or attend fundraisers… (Source)
It’s nice work if you can get it…
