Back in January I wrote about legislators heading to Helena with the best intentions, but for some reason they end up drinking out of the “stupid fountain” that must be somewhere down a dark hall in the capitol. I then added that many of these people end up making asses of themselves and embarrass Montana
As we get further and further into the 64th session of the Montana Legislature, it seems more and more legislators have discovered that fountain. It’s a circus.
For those readers not acquainted with the workings of the Montana Legislature, they meet every two years for 90 days. Their main job is to balance the budget – and that is already required by the Montana Constitution, which most people think should make their jobs pretty easy.
This week a Republican state legislator named Matthew Monforton decided that there’s not enough work for Montana Legislators to do in these 90 days, so he introduced House Joint Resolution 4 (HJR 4) that if passed would have Montana “join 24 other states in supporting a convention that would amend the U.S. Constitution to require a balanced federal budget.” (Source)
That’s the U.S. Constitution in case you missed that point.
Most everyone would like to see our Federal Government get their $18 trillion in debt under control, but I doubt the Montana legislature approving House Joint Resolution 4 would scare them into doing something about it. Besides, isn’t our Federal delegation (U.S. Senator Jon Tester, U.S. Senator Steve Daines, and U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke) hard at work getting that federal debt under control?
You have to believe, people!
KLXH has a story about the HJR 4 with video showing some of the testimony for/against the Resolution. See it HERE. Some spoke about their rights during the testimony. Jim Anderson, who is identified as a “Choteau Gun Store Owner” told us this breaking news: “Obama had his people sign that UN arms treaty on the 24th of December and it’s sitting at the senate, right now, to be ratified which would put all the guns in America under the control of the UN.”
That’s why I live in an underground bunker. It has several tunnels for escape so when Obama’s people come for my guns I can get out quickly. We are getting closer to that day as Obama has less than two years left as President. So be alert, people!
Sadly, we may not be able to use our drones to watch for Obama’s people coming for our guns. Republican state Rep. Jeff Essmann has introduced House Bill 278 which would “ban all unmanned aerial devices from harassing people before, during and after they hunt or fish.” (Source)
I think “before, during and after” is code for you can’t use drones at all.
Today is only legislative day 25. Stay tuned…
