In the Navy (Part II)

Some readers may remember the column I wrote back in January about Naval Captain (O-6) Owen Honors.  Honors was the Executive Officer (XO) on the USS Enterprise in 2006-2007 when the videos (called XO Movie Night) were played on board the aircraft carrier.  Honors was then promoted to Commander of the USS Enterprise and that was the position in which he was relieved of duty.

You can read that my previous column HERE.

Captain Honors is fighting to stay in the Navy and he is appearing in front of board of inquiry this week.  The Virginia-Pilot Newspaper has the latest HERE.

I am still sticking to my initial reaction to what the Captain did – he should be reprimanded and allowed to stay in the Navy – the United States has spent millions of dollars training this man – from his time in the Naval Academy to his training U.S. Naval Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) to the Commander of the most well-known aircraft carrier sailing the world.

Let’s hope the board of inquiry sees it the same way.  We’ll keep you posted here at The Western Word and on Twitter @TheWesternWord.
