As a political junkie, I am enjoying this time of year. It’s funny to watch what is happening within the Democratic and Republican parties.
The Democrats have saddled the United States with tremendous debt after saying they would control spending. People are kind of sick of their leadership already.
Before that, Republicans had spent us into debt, but it was pale compared to what the Democrats have done.
So, the Republicans should have the inside track on the 2010 elections, right? Now with the Tea Party gathering strength, the GOP folks are fighting within their party.
It seems to me that if you are not an ultra-conservative, then you are not “Tea Party” material. That’s too bad for moderate folks like me.
Last night when Tea Party-backed Christine O’Donnell won the GOP Primary in Delaware, somebody at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) told some news organization that O’Donnell would not be getting any help from the NRSC.
The person who made that statement should be fired. When you hire inexperienced children to work in an organization, these things happen.
The problem was compounded when Karl Rove said the Delaware Senate seat was lost.
After a few hours, the Chairman of the NRSC came out and said O’Donnell would be getting assistance from the NRSC. That was nice, but a little too late. The Tea Party folks are ticked. The Republican Party is in disarray.
It may not be a good thing to get assistance from the NRSC.
In my humble opinion the NRSC is well-known for their stupidity. In 2006, they ran some silly commercials about candidate Jon Tester that helped him and I heard they pulled some funding from Conrad Burns to use somewhere else – and almost every NRSC candidate lost.
The Tea Party also has its idiots, too, and we’ve seen some of their performances here in Montana possibly derail their movement.
The problem with the Republicans is that they are led in the Senate by Mitch McConnell and in the House by John Boehner – a couple of fellows who are not really leadership material, but the problem with the Tea Party is that Michele Bachman is the face of that movement.
All three probably have a total IQ close to my shoe size (both shoes).
In what seemed like a chance for the Republicans to take back the House and Senate may just end up being nothing but a big fight within the party – brought out into the public for all to see.
If you’re a Democrat running for re-election, you probably like your chances a little more this morning. In fact, they fired off a couple of e-mails this morning with one saying, “Help us turn back the Tea Party tide!” “Your immediate donation of $5 will help fight O’Donnell, Sharon Angle, Rand Paul and the rest of these radical candidates.”
The Republicans, with better leadership, could have really turned the tide in Washington this November. Now that tide just may be a small ripple in the bathtub.
And that’s what makes this election cycle so darn fun to watch.

[It was a little over 4% back in 2007 when the dems got control of Congress.]
Yes, but you right-wing sheep can’t name any legislation that the Democrats passed that caused the recession. The Democrats didn’t cause the high unemployment. The were were voted in BECAUSE things were starting to turn bad.
The dems were voted in because of some corruption and because of uncontrolled spending. The corruption has continued and the spending has increased…but the dems have been in control with record unemployment, record spending, record debt, more people in poverty, etc., etc., etc.
Bush was no fiscal conservative, no doubt — but his efforts to increase the national debt pale in comparison to Obama and the current legislature.
[The Democrats have saddled the United States with tremendous debt after saying they would control spending.]
No, you’re lying. Most of the debt was the result of Bush’s tax cuts, the reduced revenues due to high unemployment, the increased payouts of unemployment benefits due to the recession, Bush’s TARP bailout, and about 400 billion from the stimulus.
You must be from the “It’s Bush’s fault” or “blame it on Bush” crowd. Democrats have controlled Congress since 2007. Both parties are spenders, but the Dems have sure placed our country in a bad situation with their latest shopping spree. Thanks for visiting…Jack
[Democrats have controlled Congress since 2007.]
True, so what specific legislation have the Democrats passed that resulted in the huge deficits?
[Dems have sure placed our country in a bad situation with their latest shopping spree.]
Latest? There was the five year stimulus plan which has created or saved millions of jobs while improving our infrastructure. I know you right-wingers hate spending money on our own country, but spending trillions on other countries gets no complaint. So what else have the Democrats spent all this money on?
Created or saved jobs? That’s a pretty weak argument considering unemployment is 9.6%. It was a little over 4% back in 2007 when the dems got control of Congress. I also love the millions they have spent on “Recovery Reinvestment” signs around the country. I am sure stimulated!
