Winston Churchill died in 1965. As you may know, he was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the 1940s and 1950s.

The quote from Churchill (above) was long before we had social media.

Here we are in 2017, so that “lie” can probably get around the world 10 times “before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”

That’s because of social media.

We hear a lot about “fake news” these days which may be news the person it’s directed at does not agree with, or maybe it is actually fake. There are people who spread the sketchy stories about people or issues mostly because they want to harm that person or issue.

Sometimes they don’t check on what they are posting or they actually believe it. Some probably don’t care.

There are several websites out there which will help you find out if the story is true or false.

The internet is a wonderful tool to help us stay in contact with family and friends. It is also a wonderful tool for learning. We just need to make sure what we are learning and passing on is fact and not fiction.
