If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn’t sit for a month. – Theodore Roosevelt
Welcome to the big show to end the week “Caught My Eye” (CME)!
If you are a first-time visitor, CME is posted right here every Friday morning. This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little – maybe both.
Topics that I am providing commentary about today include Bump Stocks, Rep. Tim Murphy – Hypocrite, Political Parties, Cam Newton – Sexist, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and One More Thing!
Respecting the Second Amendment does not mean abandoning common sense. The right to own guns in this country must remain, while we also must strengthen our laws to prevent mass shootings. – Claire McCaskill
I’m skipping my normal Tuesday column, “Terrific News Tuesday” to comment about the shooting Las Vegas.
We saw plenty of “thoughts and prayers” comments and posts after the mass shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night.
The President even took time out to talk about it Monday morning. He’s even going to visit Las Vegas this week because that is what Presidents do.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. – Albert Einstein

Welcome to the big show to end the week! This is the first “Caught My Eye” of 2016, and the 280th “Caught My Eye” of all time.
If you are a first-time visitor, “Caught My Eye” is posted right here every Friday morning! This is when I take a look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week. I often throw in a touch of sarcasm to make you smile – or to irritate you just a little – maybe both.
Today’s topics include:
Cascade County Attorney
GF Area Chamber of Commerce
CNN’s Town Hall Meeting
Natural Born Citizens
Plus Steve Daines, Ryan Zinke, Jon Tester, and Tim Fox are all mentioned in today’s column.
The Ryan Zinke campaign released a new 30-second ad yesterday called “Shoot.”
As you can imagine, this ad is about guns. Gun rights are important to many Montanans.
The ad begins with, “Ryan Zinke was a Navy Seal.” (I think I have heard this somewhere before), and then adds, “He appreciates firearms – a Montana tradition.” The voice in the ad then says “John Lewis took money from pro-gun-control advocates, let them campaign for him.”
The voice in the ad then states: “Ryan Zinke is Montana. John Lewis is a Washington insider who will join team Pelosi and fight to keep Obamacare.”
I did get a good chuckle or two from the ad. I was a little disappointed that the ad did not have Ryan Zinke saying something like, “As a Navy Seal I once shot the legs off a fly from 500 yards away.”
President Barack Obama will unveil his ideas about gun restrictions today. Sources say that Obama will push for a ban on assault weapons and a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines. Plus he will push for expanded background checks for gun buyers. There will be other ideas, too.
It will be nasty. It’s already headed that way.
On Tuesday, it was reported that National Rifle Association (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre sent an e-mail to members saying, “I warned you this day was coming and now it’s here. This is the fight of the century and I need you on board with NRA now more than ever.”
In other words, “Obama is coming to take your guns today so you need to join the NRA.”
By the way, I checked on my guns this morning and they are still right where I left them – right next to my gas masks and in between the cases of Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) and ammo I have stockpiled in my underground bunker…Continue reading →
