The Sunday Message

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:25-30 (NIV)

Happy Mother’s Day 2017!

Although my mother passed away in 2007, I think about her often. I came across the following quote that made me think of my mother and smile:

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it. – Mark Twain

Probably more than anything, my mom believed in me and cheered me on no matter what. When I was involved in politics, I remember my mom telling me that she thought I would make a great President of the United States!

Moms are like that.

She also told me that she liked Bill Clinton because he had nice hair and she liked to hear him speak.

After I left home, I knew I could always drop by my parent’s house for a meal and some advice. That advice could be solicited or unsolicited, and could range from dating to weight to gossip in the neighborhood.

When your mother asks, ‘Do you want a piece of advice?’ it is a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no. You’re going to get it anyway. – Erma Bombeck

I miss those days. May 8 is also my mom’s birthday – Happy Birthday in Heaven, mom!

I love and miss you, mom!

If you can, call or visit your mother today!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! Thank you for all that you do!

The Sunday Message

Happy Mother’s Day!

She is strong and is respected by the people. She looks forward to the future with joy. She speaks wise words and teaches others to be kind. She watches over her family and never wastes her time. Her children speak well of her. Her husband also praises her, saying, “There are many fine women, but you are better than all of them.” Charm can fool you, and beauty can trick you, but a woman who respects the Lord should be praised.   – Proverbs 31:25-30 (NCV)

Today is the day to honor mothers!

My mother would be 90 years old this month, but she passed away in January 2007. I was able to spend the last two weeks of her life at her bedside. I was there when she took her last breath. I still miss her and my dad every day. My dad died in 1996.

We never really know when the last moment on earth will be for us or our loved ones. It’s important to let those we love know it.

Start with your mother today – call her and if you can visit her. Years from now when you look back on your life, you’ll be glad you took the time to do it.

God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers. – Rudyard Kipling

The Sunday Message

The writer Rudyard Kipling once said, “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.”

Happy Mother’s Day 2013!

Take a few moments today to thank your mother for all that she has done for you. Call her! For those of you like me whose mother is no longer living, thank God for the time you had with her.

Proverbs 31:26-30 (NIV):

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
