A Man Named Brady…

First off, I am not a fan of the New England Patriots. I am a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. In the fourth week of last season, my Chiefs beat the Patriots 41-14. It was very sweet.

With that out of the way, I believe Tom Brady should not have been given a four-game suspension by the NFL for the “deflategate” incident. At the end of this column, you’ll be given the chance to take a poll to give your view.

I was pretty amazed at the suspension, but I was also amazed at the coverage of the punishment by the media. It bordered on ridiculous. ESPN pre-empted their regular coverage and basically spiked the ball in celebration about the punishment given to Brady, and the one million dollar fine and loss of draft picks given to the Patriots organization. No wonder ESPN is starting to flounder in the sports world.

Then we had the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. Was their lead story the tornadoes tearing through the Midwest or the death toll linked to General Motor’s defective ignition switches reaching 100? Nope, it was Tom Brady being suspended by the NFL.

It was broadcast journalism near its worst.
