It’s Christmas Eve! As a child growing up in rural Missouri I remember my family gathering on Christmas Eve because that was when Santa would arrive at my house.
I would spend the evening looking out the windows to see if I could catch a glimpse of Santa delivering presents. My family – especially my older sisters would tease me about hearing things like sleigh bells. They wondered out loud if I had been too naughty, and if Santa would even stop at our house that year.
The tension would mount throughout the evening and suddenly the Christmas lights outside on our front porch would go out. I would run to the window to look out into the darkness. It was pitch black and I could not see anything. After a few minutes the lights would come back on. Then I would see the presents that Santa left on the front porch. I would run out on the porch and grab them. As I grew older, I would often stop and look around to see if I could hear sleigh bells or footsteps from the big guy or the reindeer.
Those were good times.
I hope you make some great memories this Christmas season – memories that you can someday look back upon and smile.
Here are some quotes about Christmas that I have enjoyed reading over the years. Enjoy!
