Welcome! Here is today’s common-sense take on the following issues:
- Montana Legislature & Sex
- No Kings Rallies
- Army Helicopters
- Massive Fortified Complex
- One More Thing
MONTANA LEGISLATURE & SEX:
It’s not often that the Montana Governor signs a bill into law almost a year after it was passed, but that’s what happened last week.
I have a feeling this bill will be found unconstitutional, like many other bills from the far-right MAGA Republicans, no matter what shenanigans are used.
The Montana Free Press (MTFP) reported that nearly a year after it passed the Legislature, Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a bill (SB 437) on Tuesday, defining sex as binary, based on a person’s reproductive system. The move officially amends wide ranging sections of Montana law to include new definitions of “male,” “female,” “sex,” and “gender.”
The MTFP reported on comments from Missoula Democrat Rep. Zooey Zephyr, a transgender woman, who told MTFP Friday the law discriminates against every aspect of trans peoples’ lives. It also erases intersex, nonbinary and Two Spirit people “from cradle to grave,” she said.
There’s some good news! According to MTFP, the Helena-based nonprofit Upper Seven Law, which represented plaintiffs suing the state over the 2023 version of the sex definition law, notified a Missoula state District Court this week that it will seek permission to file a supplemental complaint to include the new law, said Rylee Sommers-Flanagan, the firm’s executive director. That request, along with the complaint, will be filed on or before April 6, she said.
The Daily Montanan reported on this story HERE. The Helena Independent Record reported on the story HERE.
NO KINGS RALLIES:
Regardless of which rallies you attend, I think you should always have someone check your homemade sign for errors.
That way, you won’t be embarrassed when someone like the Montana Attorney General posts a photo of your sign on social media and makes fun of your spelling error.
But, but, but, if you are going to make fun of the spelling error on someone’s protest sign, you should make sure your spelling and grammar are perfect.

Or, maybe the AG was making a joke?
I don’t think you should place campaign/voting signs above adult-themed stores, either, but that’s just me.
ARMY HELICOPTERS:
The Associated Press and several other sources are reporting that the Army has launched an administrative review after two AH-64 Apache helicopters on a training run hovered near the hillside home of Kid Rock as the outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump saluted their crews.
The AP reports that Kid Rock posted two videos on social media on Saturday. Each shows a helicopter hovering alongside his swimming pool while the entertainer claps, salutes and raises his fist in the air. The Nashville skyline can be seen in the background.
Here in Montana, we use Army helicopters for more important things, like stealing elk antlers from private property…
MASSIVE FORTIFIED COMPLEX:
Maybe it was an “Oops” moment, but President Donald Trump told the press recently that the U.S. military is upgrading White House facilities for the new East Wing, the administration said on Monday, after President Donald Trump said the ballroom would be built atop a “massive” fortified complex. (Source)
He blames the disclosure on a lawsuit.
The “complex” is described as a “massive” and “state-of-the-art” military bunker, it is intended to serve as a high-tech security hub and emergency operations center.
As many readers know, I am a big fan of bunkers. The Western Word world headquarters is in a bunker somewhere in Montana.
Besides the regular prepper food and lots of ammo, I hope they stock the bunkers with some freeze-dried quarter-pounders with cheese for the President.
Is this a great country or what?
