In other Montana political news…

Montana State SenatorJonathan Windy Boy D-Box Elder announced earlier this week that he is joining the race for Montana’s eastern congressional district (MT02) for the chance to run against incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Troy Downing. (Source

Windy Boy joins Democrats Brian Miller and Sam Lux in the race. Windy Boy is very well known, and that may help him in what has become a crowded race.

I received an email from Republican U.S. Rep. Troy Downing regarding President Trump’s State of the Union address. Downing asks:

President Trump just delivered his State of the Union address. I’m interested in your thoughts. How do you think he did? He then asks, Did President Trump do a good job? Yes/No.

That email was a total waste of time. Downing is a MAGA loyalist who prioritizes Trump’s approval over everything else. I couldn’t live with myself if I were that subservient.

STAND/DON’T STAND:

The day after the State of the Union (SOTUS) is an interesting time as loyalists from both sides try to spin the information to make their side look better.

Both sides have performed the Stand/Don’t Stand ritual depending on which President is giving the speech. The decorum has sunk to toilet level.

I will give Trump props for his request:

One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe. So tonight, I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.

The political sides are so polarized that they cannot even agree on something as simple as the above statement. It was a trap, and party loyalty got the best of the Democrats and made them look juvenile.

By the way, the SOTU transcript can be found HERE

BILL & HILLARY CLINTON:

Head’s up – Bill and Hillary Clinton are scheduled to testify today (Thursday) and Friday before the House Oversight Committee as part of a congressional investigation into their ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The scheduled dates for their depositions are: Hillary Clinton, Thursday, February 26, 2026, and Bill Clinton, Friday, February 27, 2026.

The depositions will take place in Chappaqua, New York, near the Clintons’ residence, rather than on Capitol Hill.

The sessions will be closed-door depositions that will be both filmed and transcribed. While the Clintons’ legal team requested a public hearing for full transparency, the committee has currently opted for this private recorded format. (Source)

ONE MORE THING:

If you cannot be corrected without being offended, then you’ll never truly grow in life.

  1. Might have been easier for people to agree with Trump’s statement about protecting American citizens if he wasn’t beating, imprisoning, and killing American citizens in his zeal to protect them. Not to mention trampling the Constitution. It’s all in the context.

  2. A link to the SOTU transcript? There;s only one benefit to that – reading it would take less time than hearing it (except maybe for MAGA readers). Either way, it’s a big embarrassment to the presidency.

    • You’re correct! It’s nice to have the transcript handy to do searches to answer questions like “did he actually say that?” Plus, it will help put you to sleep! -JmB
