Welcome! Since the rest of the world is busy being chaotic, I’m here to provide your daily dose of sanity and common sense. Here’s what’s on the menu:

MAYOR REEVES & SOCIAL MEDIA:
Great Falls Mayor Cory Reeves took to social media to say we should stay away from social media for a year and get back to basics.
Isn’t it ironic? Don’t you think?
Here is part of what the Mayor posted:
I honestly believe social media needs to black out for at least a year so we can all get back to the basics. You know, face to face conversations where you can’t hide behind a keyboard, a profile picture from 2012, or an all caps rant typed at 1 a.m.
Nothing can be trusted on social media anymore. Everything seems slanted, clipped, or designed to push a political agenda instead of truth. If outrage burned calories, we’d all be in incredible shape.
Yawn. 🥱
Some of the worst offenders are the Mayor and his sidekick, Commissioner Rick Tryon. There’s a lot of hatred on social media. I am on social media more than most people, and I can tell you that Great Falls is pretty tame.
You can read his complete post HERE.
2026 CAMPAIGN NEWS:
Lee Newspapers reported this week that the national organization tasked with electing Democrats to Congress signaled Tuesday morning that they believe Montana’s western congressional district (MT01) could turn blue.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) added Montana’s western congressional district to its list of 44 congressional districts across the country that Democrats believe are within reach, but are either currently held by Republicans or are tight contests. There are 435 total congressional seats across the country. The district is currently held by Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke, who is running for a fifth term.
This news will give some motivation and increase fundraising for the Democrats running for a chance to challenge Zinke. It will also help Zinke raise more money.
The Helena IR is reporting that Republican U.S. Sen. Steve Daines offered little comment on Saturday when asked about a potential matchup against recently departed University of Montana President Seth Bodnar.
“We’ll see if he actually gets in the race,” Daines said in an interview at Fort Harrison. “We’ve got to wait and see.”
The IR reports that Daines was at Fort Harrison on Saturday to deliver remarks and awards to National Guard members at a banquet following the day’s Joint Leadership Symposium.
I assume the ‘Blackhawk Elk Antler Recovery’ category was the main event of the symposium’s awards ceremony? (Background)
TRUMP’S TARIFFS:
ABC News is reporting that President Donald Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year, according to new research from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
The cost is set to go even higher this year to $1,300 per household, assuming the existing tariffs stay in place, the research said.
Imagine the impact that $1,000 could have had on everyday people.
NO INDICTMENT:
The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that a grand jury in Washington refused Tuesday to indict Democratic lawmakers in connection with a video in which they urged U.S. military members to resist “illegal orders,” according to a person familiar with the matter.
Bwahahaha!
For background: The Justice Department opened an investigation into the video featuring Democratic Sens. Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin and four other Democratic lawmakers urging U.S. service members to follow established military protocols and reject orders they believe to be unlawful. All the lawmakers previously served in the military or at intelligence agencies. (AP)
I’m sure this is not over. The six patriots did nothing wrong.
ONE MORE THING:
It’s so annoying when someone says the name of a song, and it’s stuck in your head the rest of the day.
Like Rhinestone Cowboy.
## THE END ##

Tariffs come and go and are mostly used as a bargaining chip to reduce other countries own tariffs.
So the “non partisan” Tax Foundation should also study the benefits of increased domestic production.
As long as we evaluating our current president’s economic policies, where was the out cry over the open border policy of Biden’s? Maybe your buds over at the Tax Foundation should look at he costs of 30 million illegals. Every thing I’ve read says they cost us $150 billion a year, after their contributions.
Kick them out and rent, groceries, education, health care, fraud, tax evasion, and crime goes down. More than enough to offset the worst of Trumps tariffs.
*First, the Tax Foundation actually leans to the right. Source: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/tax-foundation/
*Most people contend that Trump leads in imposing Tariffs in the modern age.
*I have never been in favor of open borders. I have been an advocate for removing illegal people from our country.
*I doubt the removal of illegals will offset the tariffs.
Thanks for playing! -JmB
There are not 30 million illegals in the USA unless a hell of a lot came in during Trump I to set a new base count for Biden. Border encounters do not equal new residents – a lot encountered at the border were sent back.
Pew Research estimates there were 14 million in the U.S. in 2023 but allows the number likely increased some more until mid-2024 when Biden tightened things up.

An analysis from the very conservative CATO institute estimates the net increase in the Biden years was at most 5.5 to 6 million and that the total now is still well under 20 million.
Some other interesting tidbits in this story.

Great. Thanks for the earworm.
Now I have visions of Tim Sheehy in my head.
🤣 you’re welcome!
Speaking of which, it appears that he has sold his multimillion dollar property on Flathead Lake near Polson.

Interesting. Thanks. -JmB
Talk is cheap. Mayor Cory should step up set the pace on that social media timeout. Both the public and the private. There are stories.
Failing Idea #1 here’s Idea #2: Let’s get some of those DUI style alcohol interlocks for our keyboards.
