WINTER KICKOFF:
Heads up, Great Falls: the Montana Republican Party will be holding its 2026 Winter Kickoff at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls on February 6-7. (Yes, 6-7).
More information about the event can be found HERE. I wonder if the “Nasty Nine” will show up?
It should be safe for Great Falls residents to come out of their bunkers Saturday afternoon around 3:00 because the event should be over by then.
2026 NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST:
President Donald Trump addressed the 2026 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. Of course, Trump turned it into a political event.
Trump talked about Democrats:
I don’t know how a person of faith can vote for a Democrat. I really don’t. And I know we have some here today and I don’t know why they’re here because they certainly don’t give us their vote.
Trump talked about the “rigged” election:
You know, they rigged the second election. I had to win it, had to win it. I needed it for my own ego. I would have had a bad ego for the rest of my life. No, I really have a big ego, though.
He also mentions Biden and Obama:
We have the lowest crime numbers. Despite the fact that this horrible, world’s worst — this is the worst president we’ve ever had, Biden. He had no idea he was president, so he doesn’t take it personally.
But no, he was our worst president. We had some bad ones. We had — Obama was very bad, terrible divider of our country.
I remember when politics were put aside for the National Prayer Breakfast.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE’S MOTHER:
“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has been missing for several days. She is 84 years old.
The media coverage of the possible kidnapping has been incredible, and not just from the cable news channels. CBS did a special report on Thursday morning, preempting their regular show for about 45 minutes.
Even President Trump offered the country’s assistance, posting on social media:
I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
While it is a sad deal for the Guthrie family, I feel for them. I pray for the safe return of their mother. The truth is, there are currently thousands of missing people. I imagine their families wish they could have the media attention the Guthrie family is receiving. They probably even wish the President would offer assistance to them.
There are more than 26,000 active missing cases in the U.S., with family and friends still waiting to find out what happened to their loved one. (Source)
SUPER BOWL LX:
The Seattle Seahawks (16-3) take on the New England Patriots (17-3) in the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The game starts at 4:30 (Mountain Time) and is being televised on NBC.
In case you missed it, Grammy winner Bad Bunny will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show.
The Seahawks are the favorites. More information can be found HERE.
ONE MORE THING:
I wish I lacked common sense. They all seem so happy…
## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

It’s no surprise the rich and famous are treated differently than the rest of us, the Guthrie disappearance is just another example.
Trump is in the news again wanting to rename Dulles airport after himself, I think we should do the same with the Berkeley Pit.
Great idea about the Berkeley Pit! – JmB
Good Afternoon Jackie,
An interesting potential result of SOS Jacobsen’s daliance with our voting records.
I spoke with a friend who said that his mother, who is in her early 70’s, is very conservative and never travelled outside the Unted States, recieved a letter from the Department of Homeland Security asking about proof of her citizenship status!
I didn’t see the letter, so I have no actual knowledge of the context but it sent up red flags for myself and my friend about how and why such an intrusion would be set upon a Montana Senior Citizen.
I would be intersted if others have had the same experience and what it is based upon. Very peculiar in my estimation.
Have a great weekend.
That is interesting to hear about the letter. Scary, too. There are many people who can’t prove their citizenship through no fault of their own. I know some people born around 1950 on military bases who can’t prove citizenship because of records being destroyed by fire, etc.
I’m afraid in the future we’ll need a passport or birth certificate to vote and there won’t be any voting by mail.
Thanks for your comments. – JmB
