The Wednesday Read

Greetings! Below are the items slated for today’s common-sense commentary:

  • New Library Director
  • ICE, ICE, Baby
  • Epstein Votes
  • Saudi Crown Prince & Trump
  • One More Thing

NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR:

KRTV is reporting that Amy Dissmeyer has been chosen as the next director of the Great Falls Public Library. The library Board of Trustees voted last week to offer Dissmeyer the position. Her first day on the job will be January 5, 2026.

According to KRTV:

Dissmeyer comes to Great Falls from Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she served as the director of the Spirit Lake Public Library; before that, she was director at the Hastings Public Library in Hastings, Nebraska for 15 years.

She earned a graduate degree in Library Information Science from the University of Denver, and an undergrad degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

I believe the current director, Susie McIntyre, has done a tremendous job as director under challenging circumstances. I wish her well and offer my congratulations to the new director. Unfortunately, the MAGAs in the community have attacked the library over the years, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. Dissmeyer needs to know that we will have her back as she defends the library.

ICE, ICE, BABY:

Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon recently posted the following message on his Facebook page with a warning:

There is currently a rumor posted on FB and circulating around town that ICE is here, “holding guns to people’s heads” and “disappearing” them.

It’s extremely irresponsible to spread these rumors, and unless you have actually witnessed this happening you are a liar and you are endangering the lives and safety of local law enforcement by encouraging mentally unstable people to seek retribution.

Do better. I have screenshots of those making these extreme allegations and would suggest that you either provide proof or retract and apologize.

The Commissioner seems to get triggered by the weirdest things. I hope he does not search Google and see there are several websites (Like HERE & HERE) that list where ICE operations are happening.

EPSTEIN VOTES:

The dog and pony show was in full force on Tuesday. The U.S. House voted 427-1 (5 Not Voting) for the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Rep. Clay Higgins, a Republican of Louisiana, was the sole vote against releasing the files. (Source)

In the U.S. Senate, the legislation was passed by unanimous consent, with no debate. (Source

As I mentioned yesterday, these files have been viewed many times by the Department of Justice, so I am sure there’s nothing negative about Donald Trump or his close friends in the files. As for the people Trump hates, watch out!

SAUDI CROWN PRINCE & TRUMP:

It was another embarrassing day for the United States, brought to you by President Donald Trump.

The Associated Press (AP) reported President Donald Trump denounced ABC News’ Mary Bruce as a “terrible reporter” Tuesday and threatened the network’s license to broadcast after she asked him three sharp questions at the White House.

Here is how the AP described the event:

She asked Trump whether it was appropriate for his family to be doing business in Saudi Arabia while he was president.

Before he could answer, she directed a question to the Saudi leader: “Your Royal Highness, the U.S. intelligence concluded that you orchestrated the brutal murder of a journalist. 9/11 families are furious that you are here in the Oval Office. Why should Americans trust you? And the same to you, Mr. President.”

After asking Bruce who she worked for, Trump called ABC “fake news” and defended his family’s business operations in Saudi Arabia.

Then Trump took the Saudi Prince’s side:

The president dismissed the U.S. intelligence findings that the prince likely had some culpability in the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi kingdom. He said “a lot of people didn’t like” Khashoggi, a Saudi citizen and a Virginia resident.

I am thankful that we still have reporters who will ask the President tough questions. I wish we had a President who was not so thin-skinned.

ONE MORE THING:

My life coach just told me I didn’t make the team.

  1. Tryon is such a piece of work.

First of all, if anyone really was posting such things about ICE, they wouldn’t be visiting his Facebook to see his demand that they post an apology. Much less pay the least attention to his demand.

Secondly he demanded proof of the ICE actions but without him posting proof of what he claimed, HE is the one starting a rumor locally. If this really did happen at all.it could have been one post by one person.

Thirdly, the real point was not to get a message across to some specific alleged rumor monger(s) which he could have done much more effectively by replying wherever the ICE news was allegedly posted in the first place. Instead it was a broadcast to rile up his followers, making a mountain of what was probably a molehill if it happened at all, using his trademark hateful rhetoric to stoke more hatred of the left in general. The comments show just exactly the result he was shooting for. He does this quite often. He is a demagogue, a poster boy for the type of overheated dangerous and hateful rhetoric he recently railed against … at least when it came to Charlie Kirk.

The responsible city comissioner who really cared about overheated rhetoric would have simply posted, “There have been mentions of ICE doing such and such locally recently but there’s no truth to it”. But that’s not Rick.
