Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s column:

GREAT FALLS CANDIDATE FORUM:

Apparently, all the candidates in the Great Falls Municipal election showed up to give their thoughts and answer questions about the future of Great Falls, EXCEPT ONE, and that was Mayor Cory Reeves. 

I checked Reeves’ Facebook page before publishing this column, and it did not list any reason for his missing the forum. I think he should let voters know why he was a no-show. If I find out, I will let my readers know. 

The other candidate for Mayor, Jasmine Taylor, was quick to post videos of her answers to the questions at the forum. Check out her Facebook page HERE. 

The event was hosted by Great Falls Rising and held at the Great Falls Senior Center. 

There will be another forum on Monday, October 20. The event will be held at the Alliance for Youth building, located at 3220 11th Avenue South. The forum is being hosted by Neighborhood Council #5. It begins at 7:00 p.m.

IMHO, the current Great Falls City Commission (and that includes the Mayor) are out of touch with the citizens of Great Falls. They have frequently voted to raise taxes, rates, and fees. No incumbents will get my vote. Times are tough, and we need new ideas and people who will vote no on tax/rate/fee increases. 

UPDATE – STILL THERE:

Yesterday, I wrote about being out for my daily walk last Thursday and seeing a dead deer partially on the road within the city limits. I noted the location (23rd St. S. by MSU-GF) and when I arrived home, I called the non-emergency police department number. I gave the officer the location. He told me he would let Animal Control know. 

As of 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, the deer was still there. 

THAT FACE AND THOSE LIPS:

President Donald Trump is 79 years old, and he can’t stop talking about his Press Secretary’s lips. Karoline Leavitt is his Press Secretary, and she is 28 years old. 

It was reported that Trump said:

“How’s Karoline doing? Is she doing good?” Trump asked the reporters. He then asked the press, “Should Karoline be replaced?”When one reporter replied, “That’s up to you, sir,” Trump quickly stated, “It’ll never happen. That face… and those lips, they move like a machine gun, right?”

Back in August, Trump said about the same thing:

“She’s become a star,” Trump said of Leavitt. “It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun… She’s a star and she’s great.”

Trump is creepy. He’s a dirty old man. He does not have the mental capacity to be the President of the United States.

ONE MORE THING:

An informed citizen will always be the biggest threat to the system.

  1. Wonder if foghorn Tryon and/or ECity Bleat will write a scathing editorial about Reeves missing that forum like they did when Taylor missed the realtor forum due to never getting the email invite? Gonna guess that’s a hard no.

    One minor correction: This city commission is indeed in touch with some citizens of Great Falls: the GFDA, developers, realtors like McKenney, builders, etc. So very in touch with those people that they are willing to create special taxes on us existing residents via the utility fee mechanism, to subsidize developers and ultimately builders and realtors like McKenney. And do so in a very non-transparent manner. For that action alone none of them deserve re-election.

    • I imagine we’ll see another drive-by hit piece directed at Taylor very soon. For all the talk from the MAGAs saying they are confident Reeves will win, they sure are spending a lot of time attacking her. -JmB
