Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s common-sense commentary:

MONTANA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD:

The Livingston Enterprise is reporting that three Montana Army National Guard members accused of landing a helicopter on private property to collect elk antlers are facing jury trials in Big Timber in November.

The Enterprise reports that the three guardsmen and defendants are Michael Vincent Bray, 30, a business owner from Helena; Perry Wray Woodland, 30, a Montana Highway Patrolman from Great Falls; and Deni Lynn Draper, 36, from Clancy. Bray, Woodland and Draper initiated not guilty pleas following an initial appearance in Sweet Grass County Justice Court in May. 

According to the reporting, Draper’s trial and jury confirmation are on Nov. 3 and Oct. 22 respectively, per court documents. Woodland’s trial is on Nov. 13 with a jury confirmation on Oct. 29. Bray’s trial is scheduled for Nov. 24 with a jury confirmation hearing on Nov. 12.

Interestingly, this story has not received more attention, despite being national news when it was initially reported. The latest story was published in the Livingston Enterprise on September 18. It is behind a paywall. Click HERE to read. 

DONALD TRUMP IS UPSET:

I was pretty much ashamed by the speech given by President Donald Trump at the United Nations. It was unpresidential. Trump is becoming unhinged right in front of us.

Trump is angry at ABC for bringing back Jimmy Kimmel Live. He seemed to make threats about bringing forth a lawsuit. Here is what he posted on Truth Social:

I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled! Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his “talent” was never there. Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE. He is yet another arm of the DNC and, to the best of my knowledge, that would be a major Illegal Campaign Contribution. I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings. (Source)

Trump then attacked Kamala Harris on social media, calling her names. Here is what he said: 

Kamala Harris, who is DUMB AS A ROCK, is going around and using, as a standard part of her Speech on why she lost the Election, that 2024 was the “closest Presidential Election in the 21st Century.” Everyone knows this is a lie, and was covered as such by Fox News! I won the Electoral College, 312-226, a LANDSLIDE, Counties Nationwide, 2,600 to 525, a LANDSLIDE, all seven Swing States, a LANDSLIDE, and, despite the fact that California’s Fake Mail In Ballots came in at ridiculous numbers (It was RIGGED!), I still won the Popular Vote by MILLIONS! Bush, as an example, won the Election by 537 Votes, and many other Elections were very close. Kamala’s “closest in the 21st Century” soundbite was, like everything else in the Democrat Party, A TOTAL LIE! I expect an apology. Thank you for your attention to this matter! (Source)

Finally, Trump is mad at the United Nations. Here is what he said:

A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events! First, the escalator going up to the Main Speaking Floor came to a screeching halt. It stopped on a dime. It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first. It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster. This was absolutely sabotage, as noted by a day’s earlier “post” in The London Times that said UN workers “joked about turning off an escalator.” The people that did it should be arrested! Then, as I stood before a Television crowd of millions of people all over the World, and important Leaders in the Hall, my teleprompter didn’t work. It was stone cold dark. I immediately thought to myself, “Wow, first the escalator event, and now a bad teleprompter. What kind of a place is this?” I then proceeded to make a Speech without a teleprompter, which kicked in about 15 minutes later. The good news is the Speech has gotten fantastic reviews. Maybe they appreciated the fact that very few people could have done what I did. And third, after making the Speech, I was told that the sound was completely off in the Auditorium where the Speech was made, that World Leaders, unless they used the interpreters’ earpieces, couldn’t hear a thing. The first person I saw at the conclusion of the Speech was Melania, who was sitting right up front. I said, “How did I do?” And she said, “I couldn’t hear a word you said.” This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I’m sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary General, and I demand an immediate investigation. No wonder the United Nations hasn’t been able to do the job that they were put in existence to do. All security tapes at the escalator should be saved, especially the emergency stop button. The Secret Service is involved. Thank you for your attention to this matter! (Source)

Those three posts on social media all happened within about 24 hours. 

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN:

I am not too worried about a government shutdown, as I have lived through many of them. We still have a few days to go until October 1, 2025. Heck, the U.S. Senate and U.S. House are currently in recess. The President cancelled a meeting with the Democratic leaders of the House and Senate.

So, it does not appear to be that big of a thing this week. It is more of a game of chicken than anything else. 

We are at the stage of which side can name the shutdown and make it stick.  It appears the Republicans are winning this little battle with the name “Schumer Shutdown,” getting lots of attention. The Democrats are calling it the “Trump Shutdown,” but that does not roll off the tongue as well. 

ONE MORE THING:
