MONTANA DEMOCRATIC PARTY:
The Montana Democratic Party elected new leadership this past weekend. According to a post on X from Blair Miller, Montana State News Bureau Editor, the Montana Democrats elected Shannon O’Brien as Chair. The new Vice Chair is Max Johansen, the new Secretary is Rep. Melody Cunningham, and the new Treasurer is Lance FourStar.
It will be interesting to see how the new leadership team performs.
BRIAN KILMEADE:
Brian Kilmeade has worked for Fox News since 1998. He should probably be fired for his remarks about homeless people last week, but I doubt that will happen.
The Associated Press (AP) and several other sources reported on Kilmeade’s remarks about homeless people:
Kilmeade, a host of the morning show, was talking with co-hosts Lawrence Jones and Ainsley Earhardt about the Aug. 22 stabbing murder of Iryna Zarutska on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jones was talking on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday about public money spent on trying to help homeless people and suggested that those who didn’t accept services offered to them should be jailed. “Or involuntary lethal injection, or something,” Kilmeade said. “Just kill ‘em.”
On Sunday, Kilmeade apologized.
INCREASE SECURITY:
CBS News is reporting that the Trump administration is sending a $58 million request to Congress to increase security for the executive and judicial branches in the wake of the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CBS News Saturday.
It was also reported that the Trump administration expressed support for increased funding to protect congressional lawmakers, but may defer to the legislative branch on that.
I recall that after 9/11, there was a push for increased security. Some congressional offices did receive upgrades, and procedures were changed.
Now, I think it is time to move all of the U.S. Senate Field Offices and all the District Offices for U.S. Representatives to federal buildings for better security. Members of Congress will need security details. These changes will cost a bundle, but there is so much hatred in this country that the attacks are not going to stop.
ONE MORE THING:
Adulting is soup, and I’m a fork.
