Thanks for starting your week with The Western Word! Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Anaconda Shooting
- Reilly Neill for U.S. Senate
- Happenings in Trump’s World
- One More Thing
ANACONDA SHOOTING:
It took about a week, but the suspect in the shooting of four people at a bar in Anaconda, Michael Paul Brown (no relation), was caught Friday.
Those killed are Nancy Kelley, 64; Daniel Baillie, 59; David Leach, 70; and Tony Palm, 74.
I commend the folks who relentlessly pursued the suspect. There were reports that up to 250 personnel were involved in the search. Local, state, and federal agencies “worked hand in hand” to apprehend Brown, according to Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen.
You can watch the press conference HERE. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and Knudsen were “highly” involved in the press conference.
There have been reports that Brown could not get the mental healthcare he needed (Source). Montana is ranked near the bottom in some articles on access to mental health care. Maybe the state legislature will get right on that.
REILLY NEILL FOR U.S. SENATE:
I saw that former Governor Brian Schweitzer endorsed Reilly Neill for the U.S. Senate, saying, “I put my support behind fighters like Reilly Neill because I trust her to stay in the saddle no matter how hard it bucks.” (Source)
Neill is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Steve Daines. Daines has indicated that he will run for reelection.
From my vast amount of experience, I think this will be a tough seat for Democrats to pick up, but any statewide seat in Montana will be hard for a Democrat to win. Things can change quickly, though.
I do like the way Neill is traveling around Montana, meeting people. The current crop of elected federal officials are staying away from town hall meetings, and she is out and about holding town hall meetings. (Billings) (Bozeman)

If you are a candidate for statewide office, send me your information. You can reach me at Western_Word@Yahoo.com. I don’t care which party you belong to, as I am an Independent.
HAPPENINGS IN TRUMP’S WORLD:
Here are some of the items that caught my attention in Trump’s world over the weekend. I am on alert 24/7, so you don’t have to be!
Don Jr. Posts Photoshop of Father Throwing Dildo Off White House Roof
Mediaite and several other sources reported that Donald Trump Jr. raised eyebrows on Thursday after he posted a photoshopped image of his father, President Donald Trump, throwing a dildo off the White House roof. “Posted without further comment,” wrote Trump Jr. on social media, alongside a photoshopped image of his father dropping a bright green phallus onto an unsuspecting group of female basketball players.
Oh Junior…
JD Vance went kayaking for his birthday. Secret Service had the river level raised
The Associated Press (AP) reported that Vice President JD Vance’s security detail had an Ohio river’s water level raised last weekend to accommodate a kayaking trip he and his family took to celebrate his 41st birthday.
The U.S. Secret Service said it requested the increased waterflow for the Little Miami River, first reported by The Guardian, to ensure motorized watercraft and emergency personnel “could operate safely” while protecting the Republican vice president, whose home is in Cincinnati.
Maybe we can get Vance to kayak on Flathead Lake and have those water levels raised before Labor Day?
Pete Hegseth reposts video that says women shouldn’t be allowed to vote
The Guardian and several other sources reported that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently shared a video in which several pastors say women should no longer be allowed to vote, prompting one progressive evangelical organization to express concern.
Interesting religion that Pete follows…
ONE MORE THING:
If you’re ever lost in the wilderness, look for the North Star.
Its twinkling will comfort you as you die…
## HAVE A GREAT WEEK ##

Can’t help but wonder what might have happened if Trump and his fawning stooges in Congress would have found this sudden bottomless pocket book of federal taxpayer money to apply to crime and homeless problems and simply allocated it directly to DC and other cities earlier, like maybe in his first administration. 1,000 extra cops and all the money it is going to take to house all those homeless could make quite a difference to local governments as far as addressing their own problems.
Can’t help but wonder where Tubby Trump intends to house all those homeless “far away from DC”. Mega prisons in El Salvador? 3rd world countries in Africa?
But maybe there’s a solution in all this to Commissioner Tryon’s public safety and homeless crisis in Great Falls. Just get somebody to carjack and assault some DOGE goon on the streets of GF, and Tryon’s dear leader might rush extra law enforcement resources here, take over the city, and put an end to our massive crime wave. Of course we’re not a blue city like DC or LA for Trump to make a political spectacle with, but it is worth a shot. Don’t say no one ever proposes solutions and thank you for your attention to this matter.
