Thursday Thoughts

Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s column:

CASCADE COUNTY COMMISSION:

Over at the WTF406.com blog, there’s a post urging people to voice their concerns to the County Commissioners about the use of the Cascade County Detention Center for the holding of ICE detainees from around the state. The commission meeting takes place at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) at 325 2nd Ave N, Room 105.

More information can be found HERE and HERE.

A BRIGHTER, REDDER MONTANA:

I happened to see the opinion from the new Montana Republican Chairman, Art Wittich, titled “A Brighter, Redder Montana.”

Wittich has big shoes to fill as the Republicans are running the state and nation, or ruining the state and nation, as some believe.

One part struck me as odd. Wittich states that “Our tent has room to grow even more for those advancing freedom and limiting government overreach.”

It seems to me the Republican tent flaps are closed to anyone not supporting the MAGA way of life 100%. We saw the GOP tent being closed to the nine GOP senators who did not follow party lines when casting some of their votes.

Yes, the Republicans are in control, and like we have seen many times, they start fighting with each other and rebelling.

Moderates and independents are unable to enjoy that big GOP tent that Wittich talks about. Sooner or later, that will cost the Republicans some seats – and maybe the majority.

TRUMP & EPSTEIN:

I was not surprised when I saw the following headline from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ):

Justice Department Told Trump in May That His Name Is Among Many in the Epstein Files

The WSJ reported:

When Justice Department officials reviewed what Attorney General Pam Bondi called a “truckload” of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times, according to senior administration officials. In May, Bondi and her deputy informed the president at a meeting in the White House that his name was in the Epstein files, the officials said. Many other high-profile figures were also named, Trump was told. Being mentioned in the records isn’t a sign of wrongdoing.

The complete article in the WSJ is behind a paywall.  You can read part of the article HERE if you are not a subscriber.

Trump already filed a lawsuit against the WSJ for other reporting. This latest reporting might send him over the deep end.

ONE MORE THING:

The “guns don’t kill people” people sure seem to think a book can make you gay.
