SPECIAL WORK SESSION:

Just a reminder that there is a Great Falls City Commission “Special Work Session” scheduled for Tuesday, (TONIGHT) July 22, 2025, at 5:30 pm in the Commission Chambers to continue the “Discussion on Potential Fireworks Restrictions.” (Source)

REGIER & MERCER: 

MTN News reported about President Donald Trump announcing last week that he was nominating William “Bill” Mercer to the federal court in Montana. 

As I said last week, I have known Mercer for many years. He is a good man, and I think he is a great pick.

One comment from a Montana State legislator caught my attention. Former House Speaker Matt Regier, R-Kalispell, had this to say about Mercer: 

My expectations, and Montana’s expectations, and America’s expectations is that we finally get justice. 

Maybe he means that since Mercer is from his side of the fence, his brand of justice will better suit Regier and the other MAGAs. Or maybe Regier is saying that a judge appointed by a Democratic President does not give us justice. 

Who knows? It was a very dumb statement. His 15 minutes of fame are running out. 

It always amazes me that Montana continually finds these yahoos to serve in the legislature – and some are made leaders.  

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS:

In an attempt to get the publicity about the Epstein files out of the public’s mind, President Donald Trump decided to post the following about the Washington Commanders football team:

The Washington “Whatever’s” should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team.

Later on, he posted more information:

My statement on the Washington Redskins has totally blown up, but only in a very positive way. I may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original “Washington Redskins,” and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, “Washington Commanders,” I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington.

He closed his post with this:

Indians are being treated very unfairly. MAKE INDIANS GREAT AGAIN (MIGA)! 

The Montana Free Press (MTFP) reports on the ties the name change has with Montana:

Though Washington, D.C., is thousands of miles east of Montana, the debate over the NFL team’s now-retired logo has been contentious in the state due to the logo’s unique history. The late Walter Blackie Wetzel, who served as the chair of the Blackfeet Tribe, designed the team’s logo in the early 1970s. That logo, which was retired in 2020, depicts the side profile of Blackfeet Chief John Two Guns White Calf. While the team recently adopted a new name and imagery, Montana Sen. Steve Daines and some members of the Wetzel family have pushed to preserve the old logo, to no avail.

HUNTER BIDEN SPEAKS:

The son of former President Joe Biden did an interview on the YouTube show Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan recently, and he seemed to get a lot of things off his chest.  

He said his father was taking the sleep medication Ambien before his disastrous debate with former President Donald Trump. The former president’s son also unleashed expletive-laced attacks targeting actor George Clooney, Democratic strategists James Carville and David Axelrod and other prominent Democrats who publicly called for Biden to drop out of the race after the debate. I’m sure he feels better getting it off his chest.
