IMMIGRATION & CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT:

The Havre (MT) Weekly Chronicle reports that a judge and attorney from North Dakota said that he was one of possibly all the passengers on an Amtrak Empire Builder train questioned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers about their citizenship Sunday while the train was stopped in Havre.

As someone said on social media, the action seems like the first line from the movie Casablanca, when authorities said, “Papers, please.”  

MEASLES CONFIRMED IN MONTANA:

MTN News is reporting that the Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services (DPHHS) said in a news release on Thursday, April 17, 2025, that measles cases have been confirmed in Montana for the first time since 1990.

In the press release, the Department of Public Health and Human Services and the Gallatin City-County Health Department announced that they are investigating five confirmed cases of measles. The individuals are children and adults who were exposed to measles while traveling outside of Montana. The cases reside in Gallatin County and are currently isolated at home. All five individuals are unvaccinated, or vaccine status is unknown. 

I am a strong supporter of vaccinations. I think the people who do not get vaccinated or do not have their children vaccinated are ignorant. 

This measles outbreak may kill a lot of people. 

BERNIE & AOC IN MISSOULA:

In case you missed it, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) visited Missoula on Wednesday during one of the stops on their “Fighting Oligarchy Tour.”

During the early afternoon speech, thousands showed up to hear them speak, with the facility at capacity and an overflow area outside. 

The MAGA crowd in Montana was pretty much up in arms about the visit, with attacks on social media and MAGA talk radio. 

The attacks continue. Fox News reported that Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez chartered a private jet worth up to a staggering $15,000 an hour for several West Coast stops on their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

It needs to be pointed out that these trips are paid with campaign donations and not taxpayer money.  

Here in Montana, I am pretty sure one, if not more, of our ultra-rich elected officials owns planes. We don’t hear much about that because they are MAGAs. 

I’d like to see Fox News report on President Trump’s golf outings, which have reportedly cost the taxpayers $26 million this year.  It needs to be pointed out that he is using taxpayer funding for his golf outings.
