Welcome to another week! It seems that 2025 is getting crazier as each week rolls by. Here are the topics that made today’s column:

DILLON PATRIOTS:

I salute the people of Dillon, Montana, who showed up to protest the party held for Hank Muntzer and Isaac Sturgeon.

MTN News reports:

A welcome home party was held for two people in Dillon who were pardoned for their alleged actions in the Jan. 6 riot at the Nation’s Capital. Well, a group of protesters gathered outside the party and they certainly were not giving them a warm welcome.

“The fact of the matter is the man committed a crime against us and was found guilty,” said Dillon protester Cathy Weber.

About 30 protesters gathered across the street from Mac’s Last Cast Bar recently where a party was held for Hank Muntzer and Isaac Sturgeon. Muntzer and Sturgeon were among the 1,500 people pardoned by President Trump last month.

Muntzer received a two-year sentence, and Sturgeon was sentenced to six years for storming the Capital in 2021.

I believe the pardoning by President Donald Trump of the 1,500 people who stormed the U.S. The Capitol on January 6, 2021, will be looked at as the day that law and order in our country went down the toilet. 

SHERIFF’S FIRST PROPOSAL: 

Every once in a while, the Montana Legislature surprises me. The latest surprise was House Bill 439 being voted down in the State House. According to Lee Newspapers, the bill would require federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI to obtain permission from the local sheriff, the highest-ranking elected law enforcement officer in the county, before executing any operations. (Source) 

Face it, Montanans, most of the County Sheriffs in our state are of the MAGA variety. They have a dislike for the Feds coming into their little kingdom. That’s why we see this silly bill every two years. 

DAN BONGINO:

Sunday evening, President Donald Trump nominated Dan Bongino as the next deputy director of the FBI. Here is his post on Truth Social:

Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel. Dan has a Masters Degree in Psychology from C.U.N.Y., and an MBA from Penn State. He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve. Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!

Elections have consequences and we’re seeing Trump take our country down the shitter. I don’t care for this pick, just as I did not care for the pick of Kash Patel to head the FBI.

THOUGHTS – WHO WILL STAND UP:

Here in Montana we are now cursed, or blessed, (depending on your political leanings) with four members of the Federal Congressional Delegation being from one political party (Republican). We have U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy. In the House, we have U.S. Representatives Ryan Zinke and Troy Downing. 

My question to my readers is which one do you think will have the balls to go against Trump? 

Daines, Zinke, and Downing are all running for reelection in 2026. They could be primaried if they come out against Trump in some way. Sheehy was just elected with the help of Trump, so he owes Trump a lot of favors. 

The sad thing I see is that none of these politicians have shown me anything that is even in the ballpark of a statesman.

ONE MORE THING:

Believing a small group of billionaires are suddenly working tirelessly for the benefit of the working class requires a spectacular level of stupidity.
