Caught My Eye…

Welcome to Friday! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:

  • Medicaid Expansion
  • House Bill 371(Vaccines)
  • Trump’s First Month
  • One More Thing

MEDICAID EXPANSION:

The Montana State Senate passed the Medicaid expansion bill House Bill 245 this week. The vote was 29-21. According to the Montana Free Press, the bill must pass another vote in the chamber this week before being transmitted to Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte’s desk.

It was great to see the state legislature show some compassion for a change.

HOUSE BILL 371:

The Daily Montanan reported that the Montana House of Representatives on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly against House Bill 371, a measure that would have banned mRNA vaccines — used primarily in COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots — and made it a misdemeanor to administer the shots. The bill was introduced by Greg Kmetz, R-Miles City.  The vote was 66 -34.

This is an asinine bill. Anyone who thinks COVID is a conspiracy or that those of us who have had the shots are “drinking the Kool-Aid” is a dumbass. Over 1.2 million people in the USA died of COVID and that includes over 3,700 Montanans. (Source

As with all vaccinations, it should be up to the person. I have had five COVID vaccinations and just once did I get a mild case of COVID.

TRUMP’S FIRST MONTH:

It has been one month since President Donald Trump took office.

How are you doing? To be honest, I am worried about our country.

The Independent reports:

Donald Trump has reportedly spent almost $11 million of taxpayer money funding his golfing hobby since returning to office, despite his and Elon Musk’s ongoing war on wasteful spending by government agencies.

Since being sworn in for the second time on January 20, the president has spent all four weekends on the green, and played golf at his own properties on nine of his first 30 days in office, according to HuffPost.

I guess the remote work from home is OK for Trump, but not for the rank-and-file federal employees.

There were all those Executive Orders. Trump said he was renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. He wants to take over Greenland and make Canada our 51st state. Trump cost the taxpayers millions of dollars by attending the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500.

On the White House social media, Trump said:

“CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”

That post was accompanied by a photo of Trump wearing a crown. (Source) (Source)

I thought we got rid of Kings years ago.

Since I am a very fair person, you can see what the Trump Administration touts as their accomplishments in the first month HERE

ONE MORE THING:

I heard that Project 2025 is a lot easier to understand in its original German.
