Welcome! Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Montana Department of Justice
- U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy
- The Oval Office
- One More Thing
MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE:
Lee Newspapers reported that days after the Senate voted to refer State Senator Jason Ellsworth’s controversial contract investigation to the state’s top law enforcement official, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen says he does not know if he has jurisdiction to investigate.
Knudsen reportedly told the Montana State News Bureau he is still looking into whether he has the authority under the Senate’s move. “We have to make sure that … the football was handed off to us correctly,” Knudsen said. “That’s my concern right now.”
Wait just a gosh darn minute now! Knudsen is the same character who took every opportunity to file or join lawsuits against the Biden Administration over the past four years. Now that Biden is gone, Knudsen should have plenty of free time to handle the Ellsworth case.
The Daily Montanan also covered the issue HERE.
U.S. SENATOR TIM SHEEHY:
I noticed that U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy’s official (taxpayer-funded) U.S. Senate website is up.
You can view the website HERE.
I have also noticed that Sheehy has only announced a couple of hires for his official staff (Source). It would be nice to know other hires.
I still believe it is important to contact my elected officials and let them know my thoughts on the issues that are important to me. I hope you will join me. Click on their names to access their websites and to contact them:

THE OVAL OFFICE:
Once upon a time, I heard that my favorite President, Ronald Reagan, never entered the Oval Office in the White House without his jacket and tie on. Even his son, Michael Reagan once said, “My father, Ronald Reagan, held the presidency in such honor and reverence that he was never in the Oval Office without a coat and tie.”
That information was false. Reagan did, out of respect for the office, rarely enter the Oval Office without a suit and tie, although some photos do show him without. (Source)
The other night I saw Elon Musk in the Oval Office with no tie and a baseball cap that was a MAGA hat. First, just wearing the hat in the Oval Office was disrespectful to the place, but it was also a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat, which is a campaign slogan. That could be a violation of the Hatch Act.
I guess I am old school when it comes to respecting places like the Oval Office and the White House.
Some people are unhappy that Musk is working for or advising Trump. When you win, like Trump did, you get to pick people to advise and work for you. Unless they need confirmation, the winner gets to pick anyone. Besides, Musk donated around $277 million to the Trump campaign (Source). With that kind of donation, he owns Trump.
ONE MORE THING:
Time zones are so crazy. In Denmark it’s noon. In Canada, it’s 6 a.m. In the USA it’s the late 1930s Germany.
