Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Welcome back! Here are the topics that caught my attention for today’s column:

  • President Donald Trump
  • Price Check 01/20/25
  • Pardon Party
  • Trump & TikTok
  • One More Thing

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP:

I never voted for Donald Trump. I never cared for him even before he became a candidate in 2015. He is now my (our) President. After his swearing-in on Monday, I posted the following on social media:

And just like that, we have a new president. Prayers for President Trump, his administration, and most of all, our country.

I will still criticize Trump and his administration when I don’t agree with them. I will also applaud him when he does something I like.

It’s going to be a long four years for some of the Trump haters. You might want to take up a new hobby.

By the way, you can view Trump’s Presidential Actions by clicking HERE

PRICE CHECK 01/20/25:

The U.S. National Debt around noon Monday was $36,375,228,299,244 (Debt Clock). The national average gas price was $3.125 per gallon of regular gas. Montana was $2.901 (AAA). I saw online at a local store in Great Falls that large eggs were $6.29 a dozen and a gallon of whole milk was $4.39.

We’ll see how the new administration does in bringing down the debt, gas prices, and the price of groceries.

PARDON PARTY:

People were in an uproar over President Joe Biden pardoning his son, Hunter. I agreed with that move. I also did not mind him pardoning Dr. Anthony Fauci, Retired Gen. Mark Milley, and Jan. 6. Committee members and staff. There are people around Trump and Trump himself who have a lot of hatred for these people and shielding them from attacks was the right thing to do.

I did not like Biden pardoning other members of his family; brother James Biden and his wife, Sara, sister Valerie and her husband, John Owens, and brother, Francis. (Source

Then Donald Trump said something like, “Hold my beer.” The Associated Press (AP) reported:

President Donald Trump on Monday pardoned or commuted the prison sentences of all of the 1,500-plus people charged with crimes in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, including people convicted of seditious conspiracy and assaulting police officers, using his clemency powers on his first day back in office to undo the massive prosecution of the unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy. In addition to the pardons, Trump ordered the attorney general to seek the dismissal of roughly 450 cases that are still pending before judges stemming from the largest investigation in Justice Department history.

Those convicted of seditious conspiracy and assaulting police officers should not get pardons.

Great googly moogly. Pardons have gotten out of control on both sides of the political fence.

TRUMP & TIKTOK:

Several of my friends on TikTok were crying and posting farewell videos Friday and Saturday. Saturday night, TikTok went dark.

Then it came back to life when President-elect Trump indicated he would extend the deadline for TikTok. It was back up on Sunday.

On Monday, President Trump issued an Executive Order (EO) that ordered the Attorney General not to take any action on behalf of the United States to enforce the Act for 75 days from the date of this order, to permit his Administration an opportunity to determine the appropriate course of action with respect to TikTok.

The Associated Press has a report about the legality of the EO from Trump HERE

I’m happy that Trump did this. TikTok is a valuable app for many.  The government should leave it alone.

ONE MORE THING:

Another meme that made me laugh…

I’ve been standing next to the eggs here at Walmart since 7am and not a single person has come to change the price tag yet.

## HAVE A GREAT WEEK ##

  1. Drill baby drill. Why? People in the MAGA cult aren’t smart enough to understand that the con man is conning them again. But they love getting conned! Even the Wall Street journal gets it.

“When you look closer, what stands out about Trump’s policies is how few of them are designed to lower energy prices,” said Meyer. “Instead, they aim to do virtually the opposite: shore up oil and gas demand. According to The Wall Street Journal, ensuring demand for oil and gas products — and not deregulating drilling further — is what the industry has asked Trump to do. That makes sense. The United States is, at the moment, producing more oil and gas than any country in world history. The fossil fuel industry’s problem isn’t getting gas out of the ground, but finding people to sell it to. By suspending fuel economy and energy efficiency rules, Trump can force Americans to use more energy — and spend more on oil and gas — to do the same amount of useful work.”

  2. If I was Biden I’d pardon Ryan Routh, I don’t think it would be any worse than Trump’s “ hostages”. My wife has Facebook, I use it to stalk Tryon. He’s giving bible classes now. Gawd help me.

  3. “Seditious conspiracy” would that be the same as destroying evidence like the J6 committee did?

Evidence which could have been used to admonish the protesters?

  4. I expect Trump to get out there and cure bird flu to bring down the price of eggs in the next 10 days. Without a vaccine. $2.38 like it was just a few months ago will be fine. Failure to do so will be the total failure of his administration.

That, and reverse the jump from $2.85 to $2.90 per gallon of gas that took place overnight at so many 10th Ave. gas stations between Biden’s last day and Trump’s first. Or even better back to the $2.67 it was before Trump was elected. At a minimum.

10 days. Just issue an executive order.

Finally, if God was truly interested in saving Trump from that assassin, one way or another, then why didn’t He just intervene to prevent that guy from ever getting up on that roof in the first place? Food for thought.
