The Monday Memo

Welcome! Here are the topics for today’s independent commentary:

  • State of the State Address
  • Anti-Trans Bill
  • Tracy Stone-Manning
  • Just Football
  • One More Thing

STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS:

Governor Greg Gianforte is scheduled to deliver his third State of the State address to a joint session of the Montana Legislature and directly to the people of Montana on Monday (TODAY).

According to a press release, the governor is expected to address the joint session at 7 p.m. MT. Gov. Gianforte’s address will be broadcast via Montana PBS. Montanans can view the livestream HERE.

ANTI-TRANS BILL:

Here we go, again. The Helena Independent Record (IR) reports that it took the Montana Legislature less than one week to consider its first bill of the session that targets transgender people.

I’m not surprised. Transmisia has once again shown up in the Montana Legislature.

The IR reported that members of the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Friday regarding a bill that would essentially ban transgender people from using bathrooms that align with their gender identity.

From what I have read, there’s no way that this bill can be enforced. Is there going to be someone who does a “check” of someone they think is transgender?

I see this Bill losing in the courts because it’s unconstitutional.

If you are a member of the Montana Legislature reading this, please devote your time and energy to important things, like lowering property taxes, fighting the illegal drugs coming into our state, helping abducted children, and reducing drunk driving, to name a few.

Most of all, stop the hatred.

TRACY STONE-MANNING:

The tenure of Tracy Stone-Manning as director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will end on January 20 when President-elect Trump will take office.

Manning will become the next President of the Wilderness Society in February.

Check out a recent interview Stone-Manning did with Lee Newspapers HERE

Thanks to Stone-Manning for her service and for leading the BLM.

JUST FOOTBALL:

It has been a great four days of football. There is one more NFL Wildcard game tonight (Monday). The Vikings and Rams play tonight at 6:00 p.m. (Mountain time) on ESPN/ABC.

The Divisional round of the NFL playoffs will be held Saturday and Sunday with two games each day. I will write more about it later this week.

In the College Football Playoffs, it will be Ohio State and Notre Dame for the National Championship. That game is next Monday (January 20).

ONE MORE THING:

It makes sense…

Effective Jan 20, Air Force One will be renamed ConAir

## HAVE A GREAT WEEK ##

  1. The lady that introduced this trans bill, Kerri Seekins-Crow, assures us in her commercials that she doesn’t want to control how you live your life. She wants the government out of our lives. She wants you to be able to write your own narrative so to speak. And lest we forget, she’s a mother, daughter, sister, etc., all the things libs apparently are not.

So it comes across as the height of hypocrisy that she now attempts impose her bizarre bigoted beliefs on others through legislation. It’s the exact opposite of what she preaches, and preach she does! Watch this and try not to get creeped out knowing that this hypocrisy is guiding MAGA legislation. Preaching intolerance, hate and bigotry instead of actual governance is their first priority. And it shows. First week and already first trans attack with my to follow.

Its been said that MAGAs are good at business. It’s true. MAGAs have a nose for business, other people’s business. They simply can’t keep their big self-righteous noses out of the bathroom habits of others. Pretty sad. Hope the voters in her district are happy!

Here is her commercial. She comes across as very sincere, sincerely creepy. Sorry to inflict this on you, but it’s important to know what these MAGAs are. Creepy.

    • This legislature of the party of small government has all sorts of bills designed to do exactly the opposite and get government even more involved in our lives.

For instance this gem from Curtis Cochran ( R ) of St. Regis requires you to fill out and file a government report about all your hunting activity of the prior year for each type of game animal before you can get a new license. As written that means even if all you did was take your gun for a ride and never actually shot anything. Provides for “the department” to levy penalties on you if you don’t.

Already had a first reading in the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks committee as building a government database to track all of people’s hunting activities looks to be another top Republican priority for 2025. Will no doubt require significant additional taxpayer funding to implement as well as add new support headcount to the Helena swamp.

      • What the hell? I’m sure the hunting community will be thrilled. And who’s going to read all those reports? And verify them? Bizarre.

I know guys that hunt pretty much every day. Deer, birds, lions, bears, whatever. They take their comp time during hunting season.
