Caught My Eye…

Welcome to Friday! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:

  • Government Funding
  • He Does Pull-Ups
  • Football & Football
  • One More Thing

GOVERNMENT FUNDING:

Reuters and other sources report that a spending bill backed by Donald Trump failed in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday as dozens of Republicans defied the president-elect, leaving Congress with no clear plan to avert a fast-approaching government shutdown that could disrupt Christmas travel.

Government funding is due to expire at midnight on Friday (TODAY).

U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT-02) voted NAY.  U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT-01) voted YEA. (Source)

I’ll bet this ticked Trump off. When the new Congress is sworn in in January, the Republicans will have a smaller majority in the U.S. House. They seem to have issues when they are in charge – and they will be in charge of everything come January 20.

HE DOES PULL-UPS:

A faithful reader pointed out this article from Raw Story about U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT-01) appearing on CNN and talking about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., being President-elect Trump’s nominee to run the Department of Health and Human Services.

According to Raw Story:

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) argued Tuesday afternoon on CNN that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is eminently qualified to serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services — despite his beliefs in debunked conspiracy theories about vaccines — partly because he’s physically fit for his age.

Zinke was asked, “Do you have concerns about RFK Jr. when it comes to vaccines?” “No, I don’t, because look, he’s seven[ty] years old, he does pull-ups,” said Zinke. “You know I’m a former SEAL, right? He obviously is doing something right. And you know, I think our medical—” “What does that have to do with vaccines?” Keilar replied with confusion. “With all due respect.”

First, I was glad to see Zinke put on his big boy pants and get away from MAGA talk radio and MAGA cable news for a while and venture into the real world. Maybe he can tell his buddy, Tim Sheehy, to do the same!

Second, Kennedy is a doofus who is playing the middle-of-the-road card to get confirmed by the U.S. Senate. If he does get the job, watch out.

Finally, did Zinke mean that Kennedy WEARS pull-ups…

FOOTBALL & FOOTBALL:

Don’t forget that the Montana State Bobcats (14-0) play Saturday in the FCS football semifinals. The Bobcats will host the South Dakota Coyotes (11-2). The game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Montana time). It will be televised on ABC. (Source)

The first round of the College Football Playoffs begins Friday night. Indiana (10) visits Notre Dame (9). The game begins at 6:00 (Mountain Time).

The other three games will be held on Saturday with games at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. (Source

There are two NFL games on Saturday. My Kansas City Chiefs (13-1) host the Houston Texans (9-5). The game starts at 11:00 Mountain Time and will be broadcast on NBC.  Pittsburgh (10-4) and Baltimore (9-5) square off at 2:30 Mountain Time on Fox. (Source

ONE MORE THING:

I will be posting lightly for the remainder of the year. Rest assured that if anything comes up, I will be back at the keyboard to give you my humble opinion. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

One thing to look forward to is that the first three days of 2025 fall on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, which abbreviated on a calendar spells out “WTF.”

## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

  1. “Nope” Rosendale must be sooooo disappointed. Today the House finally passed a stripped down version 3.0 of the government continued funding bill that got rid of that awful terrible horrible 3.8% raise for Congress as well as 86’ed Tubby Trump’s demand to eliminate the debt limit so he could spend like a drunken sailor. The passage avoided that shutdown Matt has spent his entire time in Congress trying to bring about. Assuming the Senate approves. Now he may never get it.

True to his roots, Nope voted Nay, yet again. And lost, as usual, 366 to 34. What a totally useful congressional career.

  2. Zinke has a record that makes Santos & Gaetz look like pikers. He was indeed a SEAL, but he got caught with both hands in the cookie jar, so got kicked back to regular Navy. Reached a fairly low rank and was denied any further promotion – called “Up or Out.” So he got out. Bluffed his way through the House election, then sucked up to trumpsky enough to get a cabinet appointment. Was too corrupt for even the most corrupt administration in a century to tolerate, so out he went. Bluffed his way back into the House, and still wears his silly hat on backwards.

No wonder the MAGAts love him! Guess who is Sheehy’s role model?

  3. Thank God Zinke has chosen to wear that goofy looking cowboy hat, for now he looks as stupid as he sounds! A clown should dress like a clown so that folks instantly know what he is, a guy who is not serious and seriously out of his league. While trying for that Yellowstone look, poor Ryan ends up looking like he’s trying out for a part in Midnight Cowboy! And he’s a darn spitting image for Jon Voight, a rube who comes to the city looking to make it big by any means necessary!

And lest we forget, he reminds us that he was once a Navy SEAL. Apparently in SEAL training , there were no courses in how not to embarrass the SEALs after you get out! Makes ya wonder about their entry requirements! Muscles between the ears seems to be Zinke’s only qualification!
