Welcome to Friday! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:
- U.S. Senate Polls
- Constitutional Initiative 126
- Election 2024 Predictions
- Groceries
- One More Thing
U.S. SENATE POLLS:
As I wrote yesterday, the Montana Republicans are ecstatic about a poll from Public Opinion Strategies showing Republican Tim Sheehy beating incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Jon Tester 51% to 45%. Then a New York Times/Siena College poll shows Sheehy beating Tester 52% to 44%. I think some of the social media folks who support Sheehy wet their pants over the NY Times/Siena poll.
On the other side of the fence, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) posted a fundraising message on social media. It showed Sheehy at 48% and Tester at 46%. The Montana Democrats sent a fundraising email and they contend the race is tied, with Tester at 46% and Sheehy at 46%.
One thing to remember is there are two other candidates in the race. Libertarian Party candidate Sid Daoud and Robert Barb of the Green Party. They may take some votes from Sheehy and Tester.
I know people will say that the only result that matters is the one on election day. That is correct – but polls are fun to dissect.
This week I had three or four canvassers come to my door. I treat them kindly, but some come during my happy hour(s) which is not that great. I’ve done some door-to-door work and you are not always treated kindly. So please be nice to them even if they are MAGA nutjobs.
CONSTITUTIONAL INITIATIVE 126:
I received election information about the Constitutional Initiative (CI-126) this week. I like this Constitutional Initiative and will be voting for it.
Here is the flier that I received. Click to enlarge. Feel free to share it.

It will be great to get one ballot in June for the primary, instead of getting four (Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, and Green Party). I’m sure the political parties will hate it, so that is one reason I like it.
Wouldn’t it be nice if those people representing us in the Legislature worked together for the good of Montana instead of one party ramming their ideas down our throats? Maybe with the passage of CI-126 more third party and independents could be elected.
Visit the CI-126 website HERE.
ELECTION 2024 PREDICTIONS:
Our favorite Great Falls City Commissioner (not really), Rick Tryon, has taken time away from calling Vice President Kamala Harris “Comrade Kamala” and saying she is “phony, dishonest, and completely full of shit,” while saying that Governor Tim Walz is a “clown of a running mate,” to make some election predictions.
I wonder how businesses thinking about relocating to Great Falls feel about our Commissioner’s hateful rhetoric.
Anyway, Tryon gives the Democrats some advice:
“If Dems have any chance of winning again in MT and locally they’ve got to return to their common sense, working class roots and abandon the kooky, wokey nonsense that destroyed their brand and cost them dearly with voters.”
I’m sure they will appreciate the advice. You can see his predictions HERE.
GROCERIES:
MarketWatch is reporting that for more than two years now, higher prices have been pinching consumers’ wallets and testing their patience — but there’s at least one part of their monthly budget that has more breathing room these days: For the average U.S. worker, it now takes fewer hours of work to afford a week’s worth of groceries than it did five years ago, in August 2019.
This is probably good news for people who like to eat. 🙂
Check out the full report HERE.
ONE MORE THING:
A little satire to end the week from The Halfway Post:
BREAKING: Donald Trump says he’ll reveal his plan to stop all hurricanes in “two weeks.”
## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

Yep. And so are his enablers, only they’re too stupid to know it. They’re “patriots.”

The real irony is that lil Ricky, the self-appointed champion of the working class, has never really had a real job that I’m aware of! Busking in dive bars is not even close to real working man professions such as iron workers, carpenters, electricians, loggers, teachers, librarians, etc. But yet Ricky fantasizes himself in a leadership role that only he can fill! Kinda pathetic really. And comical.
Rick is much like a flea that gloms onto any attractive host organism that happens by until they get annoyed by his presence and swat him away. His current obsession is being a cop groupie. In spite of being a horrible annoyance to the taxpayers, Ricky is determined clean up this one horse town up and bring us into the modern age! He’s determined to make a name for himself as the white hat that tamed Great Falls! And to hell with the cost and public outrage! That’s what real lawmen do in Ricky’s fantasy world. Like his hero Don the con, Ricky’s motto is attack, attack, attack! And never apologize. Attack, attack, attack and bring that safety budget back!………..until the public votes him out like a flea!
Rick appears to share many MAGA characteristics with his orange idol.
