KNUDSEN’S CONUNDRUM:
The Daily Montanan reported that at a Saturday night campaign event billed as a “conservative cookout,” Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen told a crowd that he had put a friend and fellow Republican up to running against him in his bid for re-election in order to raise more money and because he believes state law is “ridiculous,” according to a recording that captured part of his remarks and was obtained by the Daily Montanan.
According to the Daily Montanan, Knudsen said:
“I do technically have a primary. However, he is a young man who I asked to run against me, because our campaign laws are ridiculous. So, he’s a young man from my part of the state. His name is Logan Olson. He’s not running. He filed to run against me simply because under our current campaign finance laws in Montana, it allows me to raise more money. So, he supports me and he’s going to vote for me [audience laughs].
“He literally did it because I asked him to [some clapping in the audience]. He’s a good kid. I shouldn’t say kid; he’s a young lawyer up in Plentywood, a good young man. But technically I have a primary opponent, I think we’re going to be OK in that one.”
So, the Attorney General for Montana may be breaking the law because he thinks our campaign laws are ridiculous. Olsen has no campaign website, has reported no fundraising, and the individual his campaign hired for campaign finance compliance work is the same as Knudsen’s,” the Montana Free Press reported.
Beam me up, Scottie.
Wait, there’s more…
On Wednesday, the Daily Montanan reported that Attorney General Austin Knudsen’s opponent in the Republican primary race, Daniels County Attorney Logan Olson, appears to be unqualified to run as he has not been practicing law in Montana for five years, as is required by law.
I voted for Jon Bennion instead of Knudsen in the Republican primary four years ago. That vote was the right one.
We don’t need a dipshit like Austin “Barney Fife” Knudsen as our AG. He should resign.
U.S. SENATE MONTANA 2024 DEBATE:
U.S. Senator Jon Tester and Tim Sheehy will debate on Sunday, June 9, at Fairmont Resort in Anaconda, Montana. That is according to MontanaRightNow.com. The debate is hosted by the Montana Broadcasters Association.
The Montana primary election is June 4.
It’s pretty bold of the Montana Broadcasters Association to schedule Sheehy for this debate as he has a tough primary. Sheehy has told so many lies and withheld information that I would not be surprised to see Brad Johnson beat him in the primary. Montanans don’t like liars.
But, then again, the Montana Broadcasters Association is running the event…
PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES:
The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on Wednesday agreed to hold two campaign debates — the first on June 27 hosted by CNN and the second on Sept. 10 hosted by ABC — setting the stage for their first presidential face-off to play out in just over a month.
Did anyone think that Trump may have to debate from jail or at least wear an ankle monitor?
These guys are so old that the June 27 debate needs to be scheduled early in the afternoon (before 4:00 p.m.) because the nursing homes where Biden and Trump stay serve meatloaf and mashed potatoes that evening. Plus, they serve custard for dessert that day. Bedtime is around 6:00 p.m. (right after the 4:00 dinner) for the codgers.
Maybe they should debate from the nursing home….
NFL SCHEDULE RELEASE:
The NFL released its 2024 schedule last night. My Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs start their quest for the three-peat with the Baltimore Ravens coming to Arrowhead on Thursday, September 5.
There will be two games on Christmas, and they will be streamed on Netflix.
Check out the NFL schedule HERE.

I just read where “I grew up on the lower south side”, tough guy Rick has a problem with Bidens’, “ Make my day” acceptance of Trumps’ debate challenge. Said it was “creepy” and “sad”. I remember thinking the same thing when Rick called out that 70 plus year old diabetic with heart disease Stizich during a commission meeting.

Thanks. Very true! Commissioner Tryon is in a world of his own in which he is laughed at regularly. He’s a poor representative of Great Falls. -JmB
Knudsen’s folly … https://mooreonmontana.com/2024/05/16/corrupt-knut/
Very nice characterization. What a doofus that guy is, openly bragging about it. But of course, COPP will do nothing about it. That’s a foregone conclusion.
Good Morning Jackie,
Thank you for your comments on AG Knudsen.
It is stunning to see his hubris, as the top law enforcement officer of the State of Montana, openly and brazenly describing his disrespect for campaign law, his intentional participation in breaking campaign law. With the only stated purpose of spending more campaign money.
Meanwhile, he is participating in outrageous lawsuits, using his position paid for by Montana taxpayers, to make it harder for people to vote and which do nothing to promote law and order in Montana.
He has driven the Montana Highway Patrol into disarray, defended clearly unconstitutional legislation passed by the ultra right wing portion of the Montana Legislature and violated his oath and ethical requirements as a licensed attorney.
A call for his resignation while justified is surely inadequate to stop the damage he is and has been doing to the rule of law in Montana and across the nation.
Montana voters need to wakw up and recognize the damage this man is doing.
I agree completely. Thanks, JmB
