Caught My Eye…

Hello Friday – you beautiful thing! Here are the topics that caught my eye for this column:

  • Great Falls Public Schools
  • Here We Go Again
  • Tweets About Lying
  • Safer Communities Act
  • Reading Assignments
  • One More Thing

GREAT FALLS PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

The Electric is reporting that social media posts from school board candidate Tony Rosales prompted Great Falls Public Schools to address community concerns during their April 8 meeting. Superintendent Tom Moore said he wanted to address what he called inaccurate information in Rosales’ posts.

Rosales had talked about staffing in a post that Moore said was inaccurate. Rosales also made allegations against Lance Boyd, an assistant superintendent, and the district over conflicts of interest. Those allegations were addressed and Moore said that many members of the cabinet staff serve on local boards.

I guess if Rosales wanted to get a little attention, he received it. I don’t think he will be elected to the School Board. I think that Marlee Sunchild will be reelected for another term. She has my vote.

Check out the thorough report from The Electric HERE.

HERE WE GO AGAIN:

Remember back in the campaign of 2018 when the Trump family was so pissed at U.S. Senator Jon Tester that they basically camped out in Montana throwing shit at him to see if it would stick. Tester ended up beating Matt Rosendale 50.3% to 46.7%.

It’s starting again. This time Donald Trump, Jr., is scheduled to appear alongside Gov. Greg Gianforte and U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke for a campaign event and fundraiser on Sunday, April 28, at the University of Montana, according to the Daily Montanan. Although not mentioned, I’m sure if Tim Sheehy is still in the U.S. Senate race, he will be there. The Trumps want to beat Tester.

The Daily Montanan has the complete story HERE.

By the way, Pearl Jam will be in Missoula on August 22…

TWEETS ABOUT LYING:

I sent a couple tweets on X yesterday and included Tim Sheehy, who I think needed to hear them. He has not responded. Here they are:

One lie is enough to question all truth.

There’s no need to lie when you have nothing to hide.

I’m sure my faithful readers have other quotes about lying…

SAFER COMMUNITIES ACT:

The Biden administration on Thursday announced they are closing what is often known as the “gun show loophole,” by tightening up the definition of what it means to be “engaged in the business” of selling firearms. (Source)

According to the White House, this final rule implements the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act’s expansion of firearm background checks—the only significant expansion of the background check requirement since then-Senator Biden helped shepherd the Brady Bill over the finish line in 1993. This action is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s strategy to stem the flow of illegally acquired firearms into our communities and hold accountable those who supply the firearms used in crime.

This is great news. When I first heard of this, I wondered how long it would be before the Montana Attorney General files another lawsuit against the Biden Administration.

Check out the White House Fact Sheet HERE.

READING ASSIGNMENTS:

Here are some articles that you should read/watch…

MTN NewsIncrease in property taxes causes alarm for some Montanans
It seems the governor is coming out of the property tax increase in good shape…

MTN NewsEndorsements come in for Montana eastern district primary
One interesting endorsement was the Montana Federation of Public Employees – Montana’s largest public-sector union – announcing it was supporting former state representative Joel Krautter of Billings in the eastern district race.

ONE MORE THING:

As many of you know, I had rotator cuff surgery in late November. I started physical therapy (PT) at Benefis about six weeks after that.

For a while, I was a one-armed blogger!

Yesterday (Thursday) I finished my PT. My range of motion is basically the same as before the surgery and I have very little pain. I have a great appreciation for those in the PT career field – You rock!

Yesterday’s “Happy Hour” was just a little happier…

## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

  1. Poor Tall Tale Timmy. Dude can’t catch a break. His bio is a never ending fabrication! He didn’t exactly grow up as Huck Finn as he suggests! He can’t seem to understand that the real Tim rather than the fake Tim is probably good enough for the MAGAs in Montana. I mean, if they’ll vote for a certifiable criminal like Zinke, hell they’ll vote for anything! Long as they were a SEAL, it’s a done deal!

    • I saw this article on the Daily Beast website earlier today and posted it on X and Facebook. -JmB

  2. “Gun loophole” the Brady law 1993 was enacted and the FBI started up background checks in 1998. No too long ago. It was to apply to FFL holders only. It never would have passed (Brady Law) if it wasn’t restricted to FFL. So if there was no loophole but an agreement when the law was passed to exclude, gun shows and private sales then that might be enough to kick out the new universal background check rule if taken to court. Clearly it’s not the original intent of the law that congress passed.

    • Wrong law. There was a new superseding or modifying law in 2022. This new rule implements it.

“The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, passed in 2022, expanded the definition of engaging in the business of firearms dealing to include all individuals who “devote time, attention, and labor to dealing in firearms as a regular course of trade or business to predominately earn a profit through the repetitive purchase and sale of firearms.”

      In other words, gun pushers.

Of course people are already whining. Because making money pushing guns without a license, lots and lots of guns, at gun shows and out of car trunks etc. to who knows who with no background check and no questions asked, is as American as apple pie.

  3. It’s not only Tony Rosales who is “wrong for GFPS”. There’s also multiple times recycled candidate, would be book banner, honorary member of Moms Against Humanity, and enthusiastic endorsement by the wingnuts at ECity Bleat, Rodney Meyers. Firm pass. Pretty much leaves Ms. Sunchild as the only reasonable alternative.

The casual gun pushers of Cascade County should not have much to fear from the new rule on licensing for firearms sales. County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter will no doubt unilaterally declare the new rule unconstitutional and then if necessary physically block any big bad FBI or ATF agents from entering the gun show at the fairgrounds to check. We need to keep the guns flowing! No matter to whom.

And finally, just saw Elsie’s “would you leave the barn door open” TV ad last last night for the first (and hopefully last) time. Yikes! Bizarre, and scary. The optics totally drowned out the message within about 3 seconds. Maybe the garish crazy school marm looks cuts it for OPI, but that is NOT the look of a serious congressional candidate.

    • Elsie has another one about math. It’s just as bad. The interesting thing is she may win the primary. Crazy! -JmB

  4. Oh gosh. The last time Bronson said, “Bring it on” to an investigation about a conflict of interest it didn’t turn out well.

  5. Good lord! They comin’ outta the woodwork now! How did we ever survive without Tony Rosales monitoring every last thing about our school district right down to the number of times students passed gas! Incredible! God forbid this guy ever gets elected to the board.

Tony, like all good MAGAs, should consider starting his OWN school, thereby eliminating the need to waste the district’s time by pestering the hell out of them! He could call it Tony Baloney’s Madrassa for the Scientific Research of Unconscious Bias and Bloviation! Problem solved! Either that or get himself a hobby besides being a total annoying nuisance!

But seriously, I do like his term unconscious bias. It’s kinda like oblivious annoyance!
