ROSENDALE QUITS:

The big news happened Friday morning when U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT02) announced that he was withdrawing from the U.S. House race and “will not be seeking office.”

He cited “death threats against me and false and defamatory rumors against me and my family” as the reason for quitting.

There has been a circus surrounding Rosendale for the past year. He was not the chosen one by the Trump mafia to take on Jon Tester. Soon after he announced his senate campaign, Donald Trump endorsed Tim Sheehy. That had to hurt Rosendale more than we will ever know. Rosendale had been a loyal MAGA man for several years.

I think, as do many others, that there’s a lot more to the Rosendale story that we don’t know about.

The failure of officeholders of Montana’s U.S. House to stay in the seat for longer than a commercial break is getting pretty old. Montana needs a younger and energetic candidate who does not have an ego so big that a senate or governorship does not lure them away and hurt Montana in the seniority department.

After Democrat Pat Williams (nine terms) departed, the House seat in Montana was basically a stepping stone for people like Greg Gianforte, Steve Daines, Ryan Zinke, and Denny Rehberg. Rehberg did stay in the seat for six terms before he tried to get to greener pastures. Rick Hill quit for medical reasons.

The people who jumped ship have egos the size of Flathead Lake. They are looking out for only themselves and surround themselves with “Yes” people. They screwed over Montana.

So, as we choose someone to represent us on MT-02, we need to look for someone on the younger side who will not abandon the ship for greener pastures. Montana needs seniority in the House.

All I really have to say about Rosendale’s departure is, “Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.”

TIKTOK BAN IS BS:

I use TikTok more than almost any other app. It’s bullshit that Congress is trying to ban it. You can find me on TikTok @bigsky1959.

USA Today reported that a key House committee voted unanimously Thursday to advance bipartisan legislation that would force China’s ByteDance to sell off TikTok or face a ban in the United States. The legislation is widely seen as the most potent threat yet to the wildly popular app that is used by 170 million Americans.

Wow – 170 million users and we vote.

I’ll give up TikTok when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

FILING DEADLINE:

It’s time to put up or shut up for many people in Montana today (Monday). I think we should expect a burst of activity Monday at the Montana Secretary of State’s office as the time to file for elective office in Montana comes to a close. The candidate filing closes at 5:00 p.m. (TODAY) Monday, March 11. I expect to see some surprises.
