Hello! Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Matt for Montana
- Alejandro Mayorkas
- U.S. Senate’s Aid Bill
- One More Thing
MATT FOR MONTANA:
On Matt Rosendale’s campaign X page (formerly Twitter), he proudly displays a photo of him with former President Donald Trump. Trump has endorsed Tim Sheehy in the U.S. Senate race.
Scrolling down his page, Rosendale has been endorsed by the who’s who of the far right in Montana. He’s also been endorsed by U.S. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY). The Gun Owners of America have endorsed him as well as Montanans for Limited Government.
With over 18,000 followers on the Matt for Montana X page and Sheehy’s X page having only about 7,700, I think the golden paved road for Sheehy to win the Republican nomination is going to be a bit rocky. NRSC chair Steve Daines did not clear the field for Sheehy. Now, if Sheehy does win the primary, he will be harmed by all the negative ads.
Neither can beat incumbent Jon Tester.
The Republican primary for the U.S. Senate is going to be a fun race to witness.
ALEJANDRO MAYORKAS:
The Associated Press (AP) reported that the U.S. House voted Tuesday to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, with the Republican majority determined to punish the Biden administration over its handling of the U.S.-Mexico border after failing last week in a politically embarrassing setback.
The vote was 214-213. Montana’s two members of the House, Matt Rosendale and Ryan Zinke, voted to impeach Mayorkas. (Source)
The AP says the charges against Mayorkas next go to the Senate for a trial, but neither Democratic nor Republican senators have shown interest in the matter and it may be indefinitely shelved to a committee.
Meanwhile, the House has wasted time and money while accomplishing nothing.
U.S. SENATE’S $95 BILLION AID BILL:
CNN and others reported that the Senate passed a $95.3 billion foreign aid bill with assistance for Ukraine and Israel in a vote early Tuesday morning, setting up a showdown with the House as Speaker Mike Johnson has said he does not plan to bring the bill to the floor.
The Senate vote was 70 to 29 with 22 Republicans voting in favor, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Montana’s two U.S. Senators split their vote, with Democrat Jon Tester voting for the bill and Republican Steve Daines voting against the bill. (Source)
ONE MORE THING:
You can doubt the Chiefs. You can dislike the Chiefs. You can disrespect the Chiefs. You’re gonna have to deal with the Chiefs! -Mitch Holthus (Voice of the Chiefs)

CBS announced yesterday that Super Bowl viewership was an all-time record 123+ million, surpassing last year’s previous record of 118 million. Sure did validate the recent claim of certain local blowhard that all the attention to Taylor Swift was losing fans for the NFL.
Saw my first anti-Rosendale TV ad last night, blasting him for hating on Our Troops, which he does. From some unfamiliar PAC. Unlike no-track-record no-specific-proposals Sheehy, Matt is a target rich environment. Looking forward to many more of these.
