Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s column:

ROSENDALE, SHEEHY, & TRUMP:
It was a pretty wild Friday in the political world. First, we had U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale file the paperwork to run for U.S. Senate. Then a few hours later, former President Donald Trump announced that he was endorsing Bozeman businessman Tim Sheehy for U.S. Senate, which pretty much slapped Rosendale across the face.
Friday morning Sheehy posted a video on social media that slammed Rosendale for the way he pronounces Montana, which was good for a laugh.
On Saturday, current Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen announced that she was running for Congress in the Eastern District (MT-02). I expect the Republican primary for MT-02 to be very crowded.
TRUMP ATTACKS:
I remember back in 2016 when Donald Trump was running for President and proclaimed, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”
The dumb things he says and the lies he tells over the years are phenomenal. Some of the folks he slammed the most, now support him.
This past week the Associated Press (AP) reported that Trump on Saturday questioned why Nikki Haley’s husband wasn’t on the campaign trail, drawing sharp responses from both the former U.N. ambassador and her husband, who is currently abroad on a National Guard mission.
The AP says it’s the latest example of Trump disparaging his opponents based on their U.S. military service, going back to his questioning of whether the late Sen. John McCain, a prisoner of war in Vietnam, was a hero because Trump liked “people who weren’t captured.” Throughout his political career, Trump has been accused of disregarding longstanding norms on avoiding attacking current or past servicemembers or people in a politician’s family.
Then before the Super Bowl, Trump went after Taylor Swift via Truth Social:
I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists. Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will.
There’s no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money. Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!
The Republicans are afraid that Swift will endorse Biden for President. She has a lot of power with the younger voters, so look for more attacks from the Republicans against her.
FOOTBALL ROUNDUP:
It took an overtime, but my Kansas City Chiefs are now back-to-back Super Bowl Champions. The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.
The champagne and shots flowed freely Sunday night, and I found out, once again, that I was too old to party like a rockstar.
The Chiefs defense stopped two of the three main Niners weapons. Tight end George Kittle and Deebo Samuel were non-factors.
There was a lot of talk about the Niners taking the ball first in overtime since the rules have changed for the playoffs. Both teams get the ball with the new rule.
According to the Associated Press, the 28-year-old Mahomes becomes the fourth starting QB to win three Super Bowls — joining Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Troy Aikman — and second-youngest.
Mahomes passed the Manning brothers and that is great news to me.
There will be a victory parade in Kansas City on Wednesday. It starts at 11:00 (KC time).
Now we head into the darkness of no NFL football for several months.
The good thing is that the first regular season game will be in Kansas City since they are Super Bowl champs. That game is on September 5. The NFL regular season runs from September 5, 2024 – January 5, 2025.
The NFL Draft is April 25 – April 27.

I still find it gobsmackingly stupid how our congressional candidates fawn over Trump. https://mooreonmontana.com/2024/02/12/under-his-thumb/

Just my personal observation, but electing Elsie would be a tragic mistake and huge embarrassment to Montana. Hard to believe that the republicans found someone equally as unqualified as Rosie to run. Her greatest accomplishment thus far as super has been to ensure that there are no kitty litter boxes in school restrooms! And thank God for that! Another non-issue solved before it manifested.
But as far as her “Montana values” go, she couldn’t even woo the folks in conservative Lewistown to her way of bizarro thinking. Just how does she propose to take on the swamp in D.C. if she can’t even win over a Lewistown crowd? A man (or woman) has got to know their limitations. When they don’t, they run for office as MAGAs!
