Caught My Eye…

Happy Friday! Here are the topics that caught my eye:

  • Special Counsel & Biden
  • Trump & SCOTUS
  • The Super Bowl
  • Taylor, NFL, & Voting

SPECIAL COUNSEL & BIDEN:

If you have read this blog very long then you know that I think President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are too old to be President of the United States.

The Associated Press (AP) reported on Thursday that the longstanding concerns about President Joe Biden’s age and memory intensified on Thursday after the release of a special counsel’s report investigating his possession of classified documents. The AP says that the report described the 81-year-old Democrat’s memory as “hazy,” “fuzzy,” “faulty,” “poor” and having “significant limitations.” It noted that Biden could not recall defining milestones in his own life such as when his son Beau died or when he served as vice president.

The AP reported:

“My memory is fine,” Biden responded Thursday night from the White House, where he grew visibly angry in denying that he had forgotten when his son died. Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.

As for Trump, he recently confused former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi with his campaign rival Nikki Haley. (Source)

The sad thing is that Trump supporters will use this report to bring down Biden when if they were not so partisan, they would see that neither Biden nor Trump is fit to be President because of their age. I’ve seen a few local MAGA folks post videos of Biden not having a good day, but their guy has bad days, too.

As I have said before, the greatest accomplishment of Biden was defeating Trump and saving our country. We may need him to do it again. After that, I hope he sails into the sunset.

TRUMP & SCOTUS:

I listened to some of the arguments in the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) about keeping former President Donald Trump off the ballot in 2024.

Several reports, like from the Associated Press (AP) said the justices showed “skepticism” about Colorado preventing Trump from being on the ballot due to his part in the insurrection.

I don’t see Trump being kept off any ballots this November. The AP reports:

The Supreme Court seems poised to reject attempts to kick former President Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot, with conservative and liberal justices in apparent agreement in a case that puts them at the heart of a presidential election.

There would be a civil war if SCOTUS prohibits Trump from the ballot. He needs to be on the ballot so he can be beaten again by Biden.

THE SUPER BOWL:

I have been a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs since I was born. I was born in Missouri about 75 miles from Kansas City. I have been with them through the rough times, and now, for the past six years, the best of times.

It’s the Chiefs and the 49ers in the Super Bowl. My Chiefs had a rough regular season, but have played really well in the playoffs. They basically kicked it up a notch and dominated teams that were favored. The Chiefs are underdogs in this Super Bowl and that’s OK by me. They are the defending champions. I expect them to win it again.

Of course, since 1960 I have been disappointed a few times by my Chiefs, but that is the way the football rolls.

TAYLOR, NFL, & VOTING:

There are so many conspiracy theories floating around about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce that it makes my head hurt. The Associated Press has put together a video report HERE.

One thing for sure is that Taylor Swift is generating revenue for the NFL and viewership.

CBS is reporting that there has been a 53% increase — since the start of the football season — of girls between the ages of 12-17 who have been opting to watch NFL games.

Fox Business reported that according to Eric Smallwood, president of Apex Marketing Group, Swift has generated $331.5 million in equivalent brand value, or EBV, for Travis Kelce’s football team and the NFL as of Jan. 22. Apex Marketing Group, which started tracking Swift’s impact on the NFL, noted the starting value was $166 million in October.

Some folks believe that Swift can sway elections and she can. She encouraged people to register and vote and 30,000 did at Vote.org. She has 280,000,000 Instagram followers.

All she needs to do is make one post on Instagram to rally her followers to elect Biden. The MAGA folks know this. The attacks on her will continue.

  1. The Electric piece about the Cascade county commission and elections set off some small alarms. At this point Grulkowski’s insistence on yet again trying to debate/push a hybrid election for the school district screams of “the lady doth protest too much, methinks”.

Almost like something else is going on there, as far as the obsessive by this point insistence on trying to force a portion of the ballots be live ballots, which have a different process and chain of custody. Has the local election denier/conspiracy cabal currently controlling the elections office discovered some way to influence the outcome of a vote via the live ballots that they are loathe to give up? Or ???

Something seems suspicious. This schools election seems an awfully small hill to be dying on for … whatever murky “principle” reason it is they’re trying so hard to die on it.

    • I kind of thought the same thing, like what does she have up her sleeve.
As long as the MAGAs are around, we’ll need to watch them closely. Thanks, JmB
