CASCADE COUNTY ELECTIONS:

There’s more interesting news dealing with elections in Cascade County.

The Western Word received a copy of a letter from the Election Protection Committee sent to Cascade County Commissioners. The letter basically says that since County Commissioner Rae Grulkowski is up for reelection this year, she should abide by Resolution 23-62 and abstain from participation in all aspects of the operation of the election functions of the county commission.

Resolution 23-62, in part, states:

WHEREAS, appointing an Election Administrator to serve at the direction of the Board of Cascade County Commissioners will eliminate the appearance of impropriety as any single Commissioner whose seat appears on the ballot in a given calendar years shall be required to abstain from all decisions concerning the operation and management of the election office during that calendar year until such time as the election for said office is finalized; and…

It makes it pretty clear that Grulkowski has to abstain. I’m not sure any of the MAGA folks know what that means…

THE THREE GENDERS:

I happened to catch this story from 19thNews.org about a survey sent on behalf of a super PAC tied to Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy in Montana that tested messaging for a yet-to-air TV ad.

The survey asks, “What is your gender?” Select One. There were three answers, Male, Female Homemaker, and Female Working Woman.

Those are the categories given in a survey sent out to Montanans on behalf of the super PAC More Jobs, Less Government, which is supporting Montana GOP Senate candidate Tim Sheehy.

The campaign of Sheehy just gets crazier by the day…

TAYLOR’S PSY-OP:

There are a lot of conspiracies floating around about the NFL, but I saw a new one about Taylor Swift, who is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. By the way, I have been a Chiefs fan since 1960. I like many of the songs by Swift.

Swift has shown up at his games; he has attended her concerts. She gets tons of publicity everywhere she goes. She is a superstar. Does she have other intentions/goals instead of dating a football player?

NBC News reports:

Taylor Swift is headed to the Super Bowl — and triggering conservative pundits along the way.
Swift’s appearance on the field following Sunday night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens sparked a fresh wave of social media vitriol and the resurgence of some conspiring that her near-dominant place in U.S. pop culture must be the result of some sort of psychological manipulation effort — known more colloquially in fringe circles as a “psy-op.”

Then there’s this from NBC News:

…some right-wing pundits have suggested without evidence that all the hype around Swift could be part of an orchestrated plot to drum up hype for the Democratic Party in a presidential election year.

And this:

The Pentagon shut down similar right-wing accusations this month after conservative commentator Jesse Watters claimed that Swift was a potential “front for a covert political agenda.”

Comedian Andrew Nadeau posted his thoughts about all the Swift/Kelce conspiracies:

I love the idea that liberals conspired to get Taylor Swift to date Travis Kelce and then rigged the playoffs because this somehow abstractly helps Biden.
That’s where we shine. We can’t get free healthcare but perfectly execute a Riddler-esque conspiracy to ruin a football game

Here I thought she was getting involved in football because she was in love, (and wanted to take over for Carrie Underwood on Sunday nights.)

From reports I’ve seen Swift has endorsed a couple of Democrats and she regretted not speaking up against Donald Trump in 2016. (Me, too, Taylor, me too.) Instead of trying to bring her over to their side, the MAGA conservatives attack her.

A lot of the MAGA hate is jealousy. Even some of the local bumpkins in Great Falls have attacked her, but that is the norm for the closed-minded.

Maybe I did see a Swift/Kelce 2024 banner at one of the games – Now that would be a ticket…
