Hello, friends! Today is Thursday, November 2, 2023, and here are the topics for today’s independent commentary:
- Shocking Report
- Montana Millionaire
- 2023 World Series
- Football Roundup
SHOCKING REPORT:
I received an email from Congressman Matt Rosendale’s (R-MT/02) campaign team with the subject:
SHOCKING REPORT: Fauci-Run COVID Lab in MONTANA!
Oh my…
Rosendale also wanted me to send him money to hold them accountable.
Rosendale’s email goes on to say:
That’s right, Mike Brown – right here in Big Sky Country, Fauci and his goons were using YOUR MONEY to experiment on bats with a ‘SARS-like’ virus. Where did they get that virus? You guessed it – from the Wuhan Lab.
Rosendale and others saw THIS ARTICLE that appeared on the website, DailyMail.com. They posted their comments on social media. U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy chimed in with, “Fauci should be rotting in a jail cell for the rest of his life.”
I don’t know if all or any part of the article in the Daily Mail is true. I do know that several MAGA Republicans acted bat-shit crazy when posting their comments about it. Since this supposedly happened during Trump’s term (2018), maybe he was bitten by a bat and that’s the reason why Trump’s elevator does not go all the way to the top…
MONTANA MILLIONAIRE:
I was one of the people who arrived at my local Town Pump store to buy a Montana Millionaire ticket Wednesday morning between 5:30-6:00. There were about 30 people in line, so I went to another store, and I was around 10th in line. It went fast. The tickets sold out in about 5 hours. Everyone in line seemed happy. I guess that’s because there’s a chance for them to become millionaires.
One of my readers commented that people were playing in hopes they could win enough money to pay their tax bills…
The Early Bird drawings will be held on November 24 ($25,000) and December 15 ($100,000). The $1,000,000 grand prize drawings will be held on December 26. (Source)
I think they should do this twice a year. People seem to love it.
2023 WORLD SERIES:
The 2023 World Series is over, with the Texas Rangers winning the title over the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1. The series started out looking like it was going to be exciting, with Texas winning the first game 6-5 in 11 innings. The third game was won by Texas 3-1.
That was about as competitive as it got. The other games were blowouts.
FOOTBALL ROUNDUP:
It was another tough week in the college Pigskin Pick contest (5-5), but I kind of redeemed myself in the pro Pigskin Pick contest with a better score of 10-6.
My Chiefs lost to the Broncos for the first time in 17 games. This week the Chiefs are in Germany to take on the Dolphins. I hate it when my team (the Chiefs) uses a home game overseas. I know all the teams will eventually do it, but I don’t like it. By the way, the Chiefs/Dolphins game starts at 7:30 a.m. and it’s on the NFL Network. It’s also the morning when the clocks fall back, so get the coffee ready!
In the Big Sky Conference, the Montana Grizzlies are at the top (4-1/7-1) with Idaho (4-1/6-2) and Montana State (4-1/6-2) following. (Source)
This week, Montana hosts Sac State (3-2/6-2) at 6:00 p.m. Mountain time, and Northern Arizona (3-2/3-5) plays at Montana State at 1:00 Mountain time.
As for big-time college football. my #12 Missouri Tigers play at #2 Georgia at 1:30 Mountain time in a nationally televised game. This will be a big test for Mizzou. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State battle it out, and #14 LSU visits #8 Alabama Saturday evening.

Gee, in spite of being a world class scientist and immunologist, and being voted Mr. Potato Head Idaho in 2000, I can’t believe that Rosie is unfamiliar with the Rocky Mountain Research Lab in Hamilton. He is after all a “rancher” and congressman representing the eastern part of the state, cattle country. For as most folks in ranching know this facility does cutting edge research in prion disease. In case Rosie isn’t aware, prion disease is what causes mad cow disease and CWD, chronic wasting disease. Very, very nasty little devils. They are basically immortal. There’s no good way to kill them. Bury them in the ground for years and they’re still alive. Put them in an autoclave and toast them, and they’re still there.
And if you contract prion disease, it’s game over. If mad cow gets into in the cattle population as happened in England, they must all be slaughtered. If CWD gets into the wild game population, it will hurt our hunting economy.
So before Rosie opens his pie hole to attack this facility, he should really understand who they are and what they do. He can’t rest on his potato head laurels forever. At some point he needs to actually understand some things about Montana.

A brief primer for Rosie. He needs to understand that the research conducted at the Hamilton facility is vital for our safety. Back in ‘99 when infected elk were discovered on a game farm at Phillipsburg and they tried to bury them here in Great Falls, we all had to take a crash course on prion disease so that we could effectively fight that proposal. And we did. Rosie was probably still in Maryland at the time. It helps for politicians to have a little state history on them before they embarrass themselves and our state. But with MAGAs, it’s hard to actually diagnose degenerative brain disease because it resembles so closely their normal behavior!

As card carrying MAGAs Nope Rosendale and Shady Sheehy don’t need or want to know to know any actual science. Just repeat “Fauci bad!” in the SNL Phil Hartman Frankenstein “fire bad!’ voice.
And about the Wuhan lab leak theory, “FBI opinion good!” Except of course when the FBI concludes Trump probably committed some one of his many crimes. “FBI Bad!”
Good points. Thanks, JmB
Prion disease was still relatively new when the game farm issue started. It was nearly impossible to research, but I found an incredible book on the first scientists to study its origins. These guys were amazing. They called them combat biologists because they are the guys that go into areas where people are dying from unknown causes to see if they can determine why. They take the tremendous risks. Incredibly, they were able to identify the prion disease responsible for the epidemic. I’m not a science guy, but I loved this book.
Since all the MAGAs are anti-regulation advocates, I wonder what Rosie’s plan would be to keep the public meat supply safe after all regulations and investigative agencies are closed.
