This should be an interesting meeting. Someone needs to ask Merchant if she is an election denier or if she thinks Trump won the last Presidential election.

NASHVILLE SCHOOL SHOOTING:

It’s another sad day in the USA. This time it is The Covenant School in Nashville, with 6 dead.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that if a mass shooting is defined as resulting in the death of four or more people, not including the perpetrator, 175 people have died in 15 such events connected to U.S. schools and colleges — from 1999′s Columbine High School massacre to Monday’s shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reminder – that is just in schools and colleges in the USA.

The AP says the latest happened when a 28-year-old female shooter wielding two “assault-style” rifles and a pistol killed three students and three adults at a private Christian school in Nashville.

I remember back in 2012 when, as the AP reports, a 19-year-old man killed his mother at their home in Newtown, Connecticut, then went to the nearby Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed 20 first graders and six educators. He took his own life.

I thought for sure we would come together as a country to do something about gun violence after 20 precious first graders were murdered, but we didn’t. I lost a lot of faith in our country after Sandy Hook. We have chickenshits representing us. Instead of doing what is right, they bow to the gun lobby because they are afraid to lose an election.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says that guns are the leading cause of death in children ages 1-19. (Source) That’s something that should embarrass the hell out of us and make us want to come together to work on a solution.

In a world where Republicans and Democrats wanted to do something, they would examine each mass shooting to see what could have been done to prevent it, or prevent it in the future, then act.

I don’t want to ban guns. I just don’t believe you need an assault rifle, machine gun, grenade launcher, or tank and say it is your right to own them under the Second Amendment. I own several guns, but none are mentioned above.

Another thing I noticed was some right-wing nutjobs posting “Breaking News” and reporting or posting stories that said the Nashville shooter was transgender. It does not matter. That person is still a murderer. I guess the right-wing nutjobs were happy the person was not a fellow MAGA member.

We spend a lot of time trying to ban things (TikTok, Drag Queen Story Hour, and books). Meanwhile, our children are being slaughtered. Our priorities are all wrong.

ONE MORE THING:

According to the Republican Party, gun violence is caused by mental illness, video games, rap lyrics, hormone therapy, unarmed teachers, high egg prices, critical race theory, the Jan. 6 committee, nude statues, unicorn farts, Hunter Biden, and literally anything other than guns.@MiddleAgeRiot

  1. I noticed only Fox News(the National Enquirer of TV) jumped right on the Nashville shooter was trans first article out. I bet the Montana MEGA legislative crowd can now crow louder then ever that are in process of getting these evil people under control. “Lock them up” Mr. Righteous Sen. Tom Cotton, R- Ark. got right on the bandwagon after WH press secretary Jean-Pierre pleaded with GOP in Congress to do something regarding guns killing kids in schools. Cotton started “It doesn’t get much lower than blaming Republicans in Congress for a transgender killer who targeted a Christian School. Shameful” , Cotton wrote in response to Jean-Pierre. As you well note he said nothing about the type weapons used. I am 4th generation Montanan, that always had guns, raised on a ranch and hunted my whole life. I never seen a need for a assault style rifle on any big game hunt. I was in a war and seen what these assault rifles do to the human body and definitely not pretty. But glad everyone is in their corner on this as we march on to the next killing of school age kids or Walmart shoppers. Thoughts and prayers is getting very thin for me.

    • I hear you, Dennis. Great comments. Over the years the remarks I’ve seen from Tom Cotton show me that he’s a few cards short of a full deck. Thanks, JmB

    • When might we expect Fox and the local righty blog to take their obsession with how people identify to the next phase and start jumping all over “the shooter was straight white male” when one of that cohort carries out one its many, many gun mass murders?

  2. 1:14 Tuesday
Dialed both tool free numbers and recording tells the Meeting ID number does not exist. What I was trying to do is just listen to the meeting. Alas

    • Maybe since the meeting is not shop until March 31, (today is March 28) the meeting ID number will not work until closer to the start. -JmB

      • A heads up for those who might want to attend in person: Today at the Electric there’s a report the meeting got moved to the Family Living Center at the fair grounds. Which I think is out back of the park by the model trains. Must be expecting a significant crowd. Popcorn and beer sales should be brisk.

  3. Our political system is working at high efficiency. We have elected these people and this is what we get. 20 dead first graders were not enough. 60 dead in Las Vegas was not enough. Daines, Rosendale, Zinke, how did or will they vote ? Please, please, please D.V.F.T.P. ( don’t vote for these people) save, or at least try to, save our children.
